We open on two guys making out next to a neon sign that says “Have A Good Day”. Once on the couch, one of the guys puts a stop to things. He’s looking uncertain so the other guy starts counting backward. He’s a boxer. It’s a thing.
Thankfully reaching “1” means he’s backing off, but his partner pulls him down for more.
So who are these guys having sex?
We go back 3 days to when there was a lot more confusing intercutting between these two.
There’s the titular Wandee, a doctor with a fondness for neon signs. He has a long-term crush on another doctor. Doctor Crush brings him coffee and wipes foam off his mouth in classic BL style, so I get it.
Then there’s Yoyak, a boxer who does boxing. He hits a guy and the guy falls. I know nothing about doctoring or boxing but I don’t think that’ll matter. Outside of the ring he’s more cute than threatening. Possibly he has a girl, but it’s a secret because he needs to focus on being a world champion.
A boxer without a doctor is like a flower without the sun?
Wandee sees Yoyak when his normal doctor isn’t available and shirtlessness ensues. Yoyak is arrogant and rude. Wandee is unprofessionally irritated. They take an instant, weakly motivated dislike for each other. It feels like the scriptwriter read something that said they needed to start as enemies. Then the doctor brings out the stethoscope and soulful staring happens.
Wandee makes a classic drama mistake by gossiping about Yoyak in the bathroom. Yoyak is in one of the stalls. Based on this one, er, petty interaction, they never want to see each other again. Sure.
They will see each other again but, not yet. Backstory first.
Yoyak’s girl is a classmate helping him graduate because he’s behind in school. (The actor is 30, I’m not sure about the character.) The classmate is happy being friends so that’s their relationship.
Wandee’s doctor boss is spritzing bonsai when we first meet him which, historically (Pit Babe, My Dear Gangster Oppa), means he’s evil. He seems nice though, offering a scholarship to either Wandee or Doctor Crush. This is certain to go well.
Doctor Crush takes Wandee out to a dinner that Wandee believes will end with them together. Since the show did not start with Wandee and Doctor Crush having sex, the dinner goes as expected. Wandee is rejected by Doctor Crush, who isn’t attracted to men and thinks Wandee is too vanilla. Ouch. Also, he wants Wandee to let him have the scholarship. Boo.
Things get worse for Wandee, and weird for Yoyak
Wandee doesn’t take the rejection well. Determined to prove he’s not vanilla, Wandee drags his doctor friend, Kao, to a club. Wandee wants to have sex. Except he gets drunk and no one wants to touch him (which is the right thing to do with drunk people). His friend Kao abandons him on the sidewalk. Kao, that’s not what we do with drunk people.
But who should Wandee run into but Yoyak. Poor Yoyak gets to see a drunk, not-seductive-at-all Wandee twerking in a convenience store. He’s not interested. But when Wandee sits in a pile of trash outside, Yoyak can’t leave him that way and gives him a piggyback ride.
Once at home, Wandee seems a little more sober and memories of hot stares over stethoscopes has Yoyak changing his mind about sex.
We’re back where we started
Usefully, we learn that Yoyak is well-endowed. Good good. And Wandee gets a leg cramp, proof this show involves fully grown adults. Too real maybe.
Eventually, the two of them have sex while The Eclipse plays on TV. Which is some kind of Thai BL Inception.
It’s implied that the sex is good and repeated multiple times, but Wandee is done with Yoyak in the morning. Yoyak doesn’t want Wandee to get drunk alone, but Wandee points out no one wants him anyway. Poor Wandee. Kinda. Not really though.
Yoyak likes them messy and prickly I guess
Despite Wandee putting him off, Yoyak is ready to go to the doctor just because. I dunno, maybe this is how boxing works. It seems like a good idea to take care of his body.
This gives him a chance to overhear Wandee and Doctor Crush talking in a stairwell. Doctor Crush wants Wandee to be his old self, which I think is a pushover who gave Doctor Crush whatever he wanted. Wandee isn’t backing down about the scholarship thing though.
Yoyak gets another exam and his shoulder is better. So Wandee is a good doctor.
Wandee Needs Help
He’s back at the club and drunk again. Instead of attracting no one, two guys are ready to victimize him. Thankfully, Yoyak is there to punch them. Wandee falls into his arms like he trusts him. Aww.
Yoyak puts Wandee to bed under another neon sign. He’s hot, so we hit another BL trope as Yoyak wipes him down. This show is trope-positive. Wandee doesn’t want to be alone so Yoyak gives him cuddles. In the morning, he leaves a note and breakfast for Wandee.
This is where this show should end because Wandee should just marry him now.
But Wandee isn’t going to make this easy
At the hospital, Wandee learns that the scholarship will be a popularity contest. Maybe bonsai boss is evil. Then he visits his grandma, a fun artistic type. He lays his head in her lap and watches boxing on his phone, as you do. But this is proof he’s interested in Yoyak despite kicking him out.
Yoyak sees the girl he likes standing near another guy and is depressed. Wandee finds him looking down and takes him home for drama and sex. Wandee decides they’ll go from one-night-stand to friends-with-benefits. They discuss rules which include no kissing for Wandee, saving his lips for true love, and not interfering with each other’s personal lives. These rules will be broken.
Then we see a host of silly disguises for Yoyak so the media doesn’t discover him. I think they’re having lots of sex. Wandee keeps the no-kissing thing up, but Yoyak puts his necklace on him and kisses it. I guess this is progress.
Are they farting in the credits? What is that?
Wandee’s covering up his insecurity with some prickliness, he’s a bit Sky from Love in the Air. Yoyak is the sweetest and appears happy to be a knight in shining armor, but I’m wondering if he has insecurities about his education. That would be a nice contrast with a well-schooled doctor. It’s the obvious direction to go and I’m not expecting big surprises from this show.
I’m good for a prickly brat/sweet open guy pairing, but I hope Wandee gets to support Yoyak beyond sex. Either in his schooling or his boxing, or both.
I’m also curious what kind of journey we’ll get for Wandee’s asexual friend Kao. Will he find someone who gets that he wants love, touching, and no sex? It would be nice to see him find that and I’m curious who that person will be.
This is a cute silly fun show so far. I think it should be taken as seriously as the sexy doctor scenes. My main hope is it steers clear of angst, which is where these kinds of shows often disappoint me, and stays fun.
Crossing my fingers!
