Welcome to my Saturday blog post, where I give thoughts on dramas I’m watching, whether at the beginning, middle, or end. Whatever I want, because I’m petty that way.
This week, I recapped Pit Babe Season 2 episodes 9-10. Alan, you have disappointed me greatly.
I also recapped The Next Prince episodes 9-10. There’s not enough Charan, but a few things give me hope that we will get more Charan.
What did I watch this week? I finished two shows on the opposite end of the sweet/spicy spectrum. Let’s start with sweet:

Boys In Love – เปิดเทอมใหม่ หัวใจหัดรัก – 2025
Recently aired Thai High School BL with 12 episodes.
There are so many boys, and they are all in love, like, right away. But thankfully, a hand-holding love, not a My Stubborn love, because High School.
Despite my initial worry about the high number of couples, I enjoyed this show from beginning to end.

But the main couple remained my favorite couple
Probably because I related most to Shane, who overthought everything in his life, and needed a chill Kit in his life. I also really liked how one half of our teacher pair was an older echo of Shane, and the way he related to and supported Shane.
I would have loved to see more of that, and more of the teacher couple in general. Once they got together, they didn’t have a lot to do.
The sweet couple that was Mon and Kim never did much for me. Which makes me a monster because they were the cutest thing ever, and I loved their sweaters. But I don’t understand sweaters in Thailand, and I never quite understood what drew them together besides both having the best smiles.
But they had different personalities, with Mon being a little sharper edged and Kim having absolutely no edges. They went through conflicts and worked things out as a couple. I know that they’re someone else’s favorite couple.
The fourth “couple” had less screen time, so they were less developed. But in their few scenes, my heartstrings got tugged by these two inseparable friends, where one is maybe a little more aware of his true feelings than the other.

It’s a High School show, but the writing and characters are good
If you’ve seen one, you know what you’re in for. Issues with parents, issues with academic achievement, school trips, sports day, etc. None of this is new.
But the characters were well written enough to keep it engaging despite the familiarity. In particular, I liked that no one’s problems were ever solved in one episode. Their problems were linked to who they were, and because of that, it didn’t feel as tropey.
The comedy was cute but not stupid, fitting the overall tone of the story. It never took itself too seriously.
The ending was still the least interesting part to me, in part because that’s my least favorite part of High School shows. It also felt like the couples interacted with each other less in the last quarter of the show, and I liked them as a group. But I was satisfied with the resolutions for each character and each couple.
Overall, this is a sweet, low-stress watch that made me smile like Mon and Kim through most of its episodes. If you’re only going to watch one tropey High School BL, this is a good choice.
And now for something completely different. A final review of:

My Stubborn – ไหนเฮียบอกไม่ชอบเด็ก – 2025
Recently aired Thai Workplace Sex Drama with 12 episodes.
A bunch of people work together and lust after each other. I’m not sure how they get work done or what their work is.
As I wrote in my initial review, this show is exactly what it promises to be from the very beginning, when you hear heavy breathing from someone masturbating by a koi pond.

Unlike the show above, you will not be watching this one for the writing
This show is about an office with ten employees, at least half of whom are sleeping with each other, and the other half want to know about it. People have sex in the bathroom and the stairwell of the office, but they never have sex at the one factory. There’s a coffee shop nearby where they frequently place orders and then have to leave because someone’s love life gets in the way of picking up their Americano.
They have clients and accounting and meetings, but who knows what they are selling. A new employee treats the place like a dating service, and the other characters act offended despite this making perfect sense.
Honestly, this may all be a positive for me, as workplace drama is one of my least favorite things to watch. I don’t care if a product gets launched on time or not. Neither does this show.

Our lead actors, Boat and Oat, get all the credit for the show’s appeal
And it’s not even that they’re particularly good actors. But they are extremely comfortable together, have great chemistry, and commit fully to every absurd scene they are in.
They go like this: Sorn warns Jun not to get in trouble. Jun gets into a small amount of trouble. Sorn “rescues” Jun and gets mad at him. It leads to sex. Repeat. At one point, Jun gets rashes on his legs. Even this leads to sex.
But there’s no awkwardness or self-consciousness on our actors’ faces as they go through each ridiculous moment. Hulking sexy Sorn rides the merry-go-round and wins Jun a giant rhino doll with sincere seriousness, and cute little Jun is delighted by his date and prize.
Anyone waiting for Sorn to have any real character evolution is going to be disappointed. His character arc is, er, subtle. Sorn was Sorn, and Jun loved Sorn, and that was Sorn. In real life, I would drag Jun away from Sorn. As fictional characters, I enjoyed their madness.
Unfortunately, the other couples aren’t nearly as engaging, but they’re on screen less. In general, the couples don’t interact much except to cause problems for each other.

This is going to be a guilty pleasure rewatch for me
For me, this was a stress-free watch, which is the only thing it may have in common with Boys in Love. None of the characters or situations felt real enough for reality to intrude on my enjoyment.
What I’ve described either sounds stupid, frustrating, and infuriating or fills your heart with delicious anticipation of over-the-top, problematic fantasies. You know who you are, and you don’t have to tell anyone else.
