Love in the Moonlight – Episode 3-4 – Recap and Review

When last we left our poor prince and poor musician, Sasin dragged Saenkaew into skinship.

Sasin lets him go, and Uncle Inthorn arrives

Missing the important part. Not that he would have figured it out. Inthorn is very, very lazy.

Saenkaew tries to stop him, but Inthorn walks back to the party and takes the microphone. He makes the stunning announcement that this is a marriage about benefits, not love. Saenkaew even fought his Dad over it.

Off-mic, he tells Saenkaew he knows all his secrets. Saenkaew nervously wants to know what he means. But Grandma interrupts by fainting.

Saenkaew’s family is ruining the party

Pin’s Dad has Inthorn thrown out and beaten.

Sasin carries Grandma to bed. Both she and Saenkaew are grateful, but Sasin is now suspicious.

The next day, Pin’s Dad calls Saenkaew’s Dad to complain, briefly appearing to care about Pin being “very upset.” But she’s not. He just wants more money from Saenkaew’s Dad.

But Pin does get upset when her stepmother scolds her for not magically stopping Inthorn. Saenkaew steps in to take the blame. A tearful Pin walks away and cries as she remembers her stepmother being cruel to her mother.

When her mother died, Sasin promised to take care of Pin.

Everyone needs a little skinship sometimes

Saenkaew finds her, and Pin wants to apologize. He tells her not to apologize for something she didn’t do. She cries against him while he pats her back.

Later, she stops Sasin from confronting Saenkaew over Inthorn. He tells her about seeing Saenkaew with Sexy Actress, and gets permission to look into that more.

At least Saenkaew has Homthip, who I think is his Grandma’s servant, looking after him. She worries that there’s a traitor at home, but doesn’t think Inthorn knows his Secret.

Sasin “investigates” by barging into Saenkaew’s room. He decides a children’s book conceals love letters, and wrestles with him for it until its ceramic bunny clasp breaks.

Homthip reveals the book was from Saenkaew’s dead mother. Saenkaew leaves, and Sasin guiltily looks at the broken pieces of the clasp in his hand.

Outside, Saenkaew sobs and remembers his mom reading the book. The entire book. Sasin tries to apologize, but Saenkaew isn’t interested.

That night, Saenkaew plays sad ocarina, and Sasin listens

Kalong is again unhappy with Inthorn’s work and doesn’t think it’ll stop the wedding. Inthorn remembers Saenkaew’s fear about Secrets and decides he has a Secret.

Pin takes Saenkaew to Club Nocturne as a set-up to get him and Sasin to make up. She takes after her Dad, claiming Sasin is horribly depressed right before he walks out smiling and flirting.

Saenkaew avoids Sasin and notices some same-sex couples on the dance floor. Rachawadee, Sasin’s boss, tells him that she wants everyone to be happy. Saenkaew doesn’t feel the world works this way. She understands he’s part of the royal family, but at least here he can be free.

Now that Saenkaew’s in a better mood, Sasin tries another apology. He starts by blaming Saenkaew, bad Sasin, but eventually admits his fault and calls himself horrible. Then he gives him the goofiest-looking replacement rabbit clasp ever. Saenkaew laughs.

That night, Saenkaew is still smiling when he hears Sasin playing violin. I think it’s his song, and he plays the ocarina to match. That’s beautiful.

Inthorn tells Pin’s Dad that Saenkaew has a secret wife, but why would anyone listen to Inthorn? Then Pin’s Dad catches Saenkaew hiding that he was speaking with a woman on the phone. Now Pin’s Dad is curious.

Saenkaew leaves to meet Sexy Actress, even though he has a fever

This’ll go well.

Sexy Actress is a no-show at the restaurant, sending an assistant. Inthorn sees this and follows Saenkaew when he leaves.

First, Inthorn pretends to be nice. Then he grabs Saenkaew and demands to know about his hidden wife, or his mistress, or whatever.

Poor gay Saenkaew, this is ridiculous.

Sasin shows up to punch Inthorn, and they get into a fight while Saenkaew slowly passes out from his fever.

Sasin takes Saenkaew to Rachawadee’s place. They delay the BL wipedown while Saenkaew feverishly remembers his Mom finding a letter from a male lover. She gave it to his horrible father and was surprised when her abusive husband was abusive.

We again see Prince Evil Dad pushing her, her fainting, and then she’s dead. Prince Evil Dad blames Saenkaew for her death.

Feverish Saenkaew cries and apologizes to his Mom. Sasin strokes his face and tells him not to cry, and Saenkaew grabs his wrist. Aww, my heart, the feels.

We start the morning with fresh skinship

Saenkaew wakes up and rolls off the couch onto Sasin. His frantic efforts to get up lead to more touching, while Sasin touches him all over to keep him from hurting himself. Finally, Saenkaew calms down, and they get upright.

Sasin explains that he fainted, and Rachawadee’s place is nearby. Saenkaew vaguely explains that his uncle doesn’t like him. Money and power make things complicated. His life would be much easier if he weren’t the son of an (Evil) Prince.

Sasin tells him he can talk to him if he needs to, and Saenkaew thanks him. It seems like they’ve made up. Give it a minute.

Then Saenkaew gets breakfast with Rachawadee! I want breakfast with Rachawadee. She makes certain Saenkaew knows Sasin is single, and watches Sasin put toppings on Saenkaew’s porridge.

Evil Prince Dad’s perpetually upset-looking assistant has arrived

Kamsu acts like Saenkaew spending the night with Sasin is The Worst Thing Ever. His attitude is more suspicious than not saying anything. Worse, Pin’s Dad overhears everything.

Kamsu, this is 100% on you.

Pin’s Dad and his horrible wife decide they would like to know Saenkaew’s Secret, so they can use it to get more money from Saenkaew’s Dad.

Kamsu then tries to remove Sasin from a thruple date, but becomes their driver instead. He does everything he can to keep the two men apart and kill the date.

Sasin has enough and drags Saenkaew on a run. At first, Saenkaew resists, but when Sasin shoves Kamsu face-first into some eggs, Saenkaew laughs and gives in.

Sasin likes seeing him laughing and relaxed.

Poor left-behind Pin catches up, and they have a great date. Pin feels lucky and wants the three of them to be this happy forever. Uh oh. She should pay more attention to how Sasin opens Saenkaew’s door.

Grandma won’t let Kamsu scold Saenkaew again. She doesn’t want Saenkaew separated from the first person who has made him smile since his Mom died. Since Kamsu can’t tell Grandma about Saenkaew’s Secret, he’s stuck.

And no one can figure it out anyway. Pin’s Dad gets nothing from his daughter or Saenkaew’s Grandma. Inthorn coincidentally sees the Sexy Actress with the assistant who met with Saenkaew at the restaurant. Like Sasin, he immediately decides that Saenkaew and Sexy Actress are having an affair.

Saenkaew crashes a lesbian wedding at Club Nocturne

But he’s upset that their marriage only exists at the club. To him, it’s a dream that can’t exist, and he lives in reality. Sasin believes that dreams become reality, and it’s better to dream.

Woah! Rock ‘n roll instead of slow dancing! Sasin gets a tired Saenkaew to dance with him! Everyone is having the best time! I hope it lasts forever!

Kalong is still unimpressed with Inthorn’s “work” and demands that he get proof of this affair.

Saenkaew needs to sneak out to see the Sexy Actress, but Kamsu is guarding his door from gay things. Prince Evil Dad calls Kamsu to tell him that Kalong and Inthorn are working together, drawing him away from the door.

Sexy Actress tells Saenkaew he can meet the Field Marshal. Later. But Saenkaew sees she’s upset and offers to listen. She’s afraid of going to her brother’s wedding because she’s too sexy. Saenkaew tells her to go anyway.

He opens up to her about not wanting to trap Pin in a loveless marriage. She asks that if she helps him, he will live his life as he wants

He promises to try. He quotes Sasin, saying he’d rather be bringing his dreams to life. Sexy Actress guesses whoever told him this is someone important to him. Saenkaew maybe realizes it in that moment.

Unfortunately, Sasin sees him leaving Sexy Actress’s place the next morning and loses it again. He calls Seankaew and his dad horrible and accuses him of shaming his mother.

Saenkaew punches Sasin. But Sasin can’t punch the crying Saenkaew.

Inthorn and Duangkamol were listening in the whole time! Dun dun dun!

Sasin has got to chill out

Kamsu’s right: Sasin is a bigger threat than Inthorn.

Since I’m watching these episodes two at a time, it stands out that episodes 2 and 4 BOTH end with Sasin jealously losing his mind. If he wants Saenkaew to be less sad, he needs to stop being so mean to him.

It was cute that when they finally started getting close, Kamsu physically got in between them. But now I’m waiting for Sasin to do more than apologize.

Club Nocturne and Rachawadee are the rewards for surviving the horrible family stuff. Outside of Grandma, none of them are any good. And even Grandma has an obliviousness that I find frustrating.

Saenkaew’s Dad gives lip service to caring about his son, so I guess that’s a +1 with a -1000000000 for all the horrible things he does to him.

I’m with Saenkaew on having money and being wealthy. Poverty is the worst, but I wouldn’t want to be rich and royal either. Being a cousin and a violin player seems nice.
