Love in the Moonlight – Episode 5-6 – Recap and Review

When last we left our poor prince and poor musician, Sasin realized Saenkaew was using Pin, and got nasty.

Now they’re both upset

Kamsu warns Saenkaew that Inthorn and Kalong are working together. And soon, Evil Prince Dad will be there to make the wedding happen.

Pin gets Saenkaew to smile over lunch before Sasin arrives and ruins it. Sasin tells Saenkaew to go back where he came from, and Saenkaew walks off. But not to go back to Chansaeng.

Pin is confused. Sasin wants her to stay away from Saenkaew, but Pin loves him and wants them to be friends.

Thanks to Sasin, Inthorn tells Kalong about the Field Marshal

Kalong continues to be the deeper thinker of the pair, wondering why Saenkaew prefers the Field Marshal’s over marriage.

Sasin confronts Saenkaew again, and Saenkaew shares his plans for the Field Marshal. But now Sasin’s even more upset for Pin and becomes the third person to grab Saenkaew by the front of the shirt.

Lucky for Saenkaew, oblivious Grandma obliviously interrupts.

At work, Sasin is moody and mean. Rachawadee gets him to confide in her, and thinks he should talk to Saenkaew before telling Pin anything.

Sasin takes her advice and has Pin trick Saenkaew into meeting him. His attempts to confront Saenkaew get him knocked into the water. He pretends to drown, so Saenkaew jumps in to save him.

That’s one way to force a guy to talk, and get water-skinship

They go to Sasin’s place so Sasin’s naked body can enthrall Saenkaew. He moves past that and explains that Kalong might kill them all. His family is against him doing ANYTHING except marrying Pin, so he has to find another way in secret.

He knows Pin will be hurt, but it’s better than a loveless marriage. Sasin agrees to keep quiet as long as Saenkaew begs for her forgiveness.

Both Sasin and I think Saenkaew is adorable in his big shirt with no pants.

Later, Pin finds them. She’s happy they’re getting along again, but feels left out. She makes them go on another thruple date, but now Sasin is keeping her from getting close to Saenkaew.

As she watches the guys take a romantic boat ride, they quietly discuss feeling guilty and when to tell her the truth. Sasin is suddenly okay with Saenkaew waiting until the assets are safe, and promises he’ll distract Pin.

With lotus blossoms. And while she’s distracted, he nibbles a lotus seed out of Saenkaew’s hand. Sasin, what are you doing?

Now Pin is annoyed

Not about the seed, she didn’t see that, but everything else. She tells Sasin that she knows Saenkaew doesn’t love her, but like any good second lead, SHE WILL MAKE HIM LOVE HER.

That night, Pin watches as Sasin and Saenkaew sneak out in the moonlight. At Club Nocturne, they gossip about Pin, and Sasin talks about how irresistible Saenkaew is. Saenkaew thinks Sasin would hate him if he knew the true him. Sasin thinks maybe he’d like that side of him.

Back at Sasin’s, Pin is upset at being left behind. Again. She makes Sasin promise not to leave her alone.

Inthorn catches Pin’s Dad and Evil Stepmother pawning things, and lets them know about Saenkaew and the Field Marshal. So Pin’s Dad confronts Saenkaew’s family and makes a big fuss.

Grandmother faints again, because her heart can’t take things not going her way. She wakes and tells Saenkaew that if he cares about her, he’ll marry Pin. Grandma, I want to like you, but…

Nothing says “I’m sorry” like a gold bar

Pin’s Dad accepts the apology and pretends it’s his daughter, not the money, that matters.

Saenkaew is worried, but Sasin thinks it’ll all be okay. But Saenkaew panics that he’ll make everyone sad, and kill Grandma like he killed his Mom. He thinks he shouldn’t have been born. Poor Sasin.

Sasin reassures him it’s not his fault, it’ll get better, and he has Sasin. As long as Sasin doesn’t get mad at him. Saenkaew wipes his eyes and tells him not to cry, and… staring!

Sasin looks ready for a kiss, but Saenkaew pulls away.

And also, it will not all be okay

Because when Sexy Actress takes Saenkaew to meet the Field Marshal, Evil Prince Dad is there! Dun dun dun! The Field Marshal is now invited to the wedding.

At least the Field Marshal and Sexy Actress seem to have a good relationship.

Sasin finds Saenkaew in the moonlight and wants the good news. But Prince Evil Dad follows and sees Sasin grabbing Saenkaew’s arms. And their raging chemistry.

He asks around about Sasin. Kamsu surprisingly says Sasin is just Pin’s cousin. Then he tells Homthip he wants to see Saenkaew happy, but Saenkaew has to make sacrifices. I dunno man. That’s his whole life.

While shopping for the wedding, Pin confides to Grandma that Saenkaew seems depressed. She thinks he doesn’t want to be married.

Grandma is certain that’s not true! He’s just worried about the future! They’ll be happy! Grandma!

Sasin learns from the news that the Field Marshal is attending the wedding, not stopping it. He rushes to Saenkaew’s room, but Kamsu is blocking the way. He knocks him away, but there’s another boss battle! Prince Evil Dad!

Sasin makes it clear that he knows everything. Prince Evil Dad denies everything.

Unfortunately, Sasin doesn’t get to punch Prince Evil Dad

Because Saenkaew, Grandma, and Pin arrive home mid-conflict. Saenkaew is sent to his room. Grandma and Pin are confused. Pin’s Dad is watching.

Grandma tells Evil Prince Dad that Kamsu needs to apologize for the fight for some reason. She babbles about how close Sasin and Saenkaew are, spending the night together even. Grandma. Stop.

That night, Sasin sneaks onto Saenkaew’s balcony. Evil Prince Dad arrives before they can talk, and Sasin hides under the bed. He’s confused to hear Prince Evil Dad asking about him and Saenkaew’s relationship.

A stray button on the floor makes Prince Evil Dad way too interested in under the bed. Saenkaew distracts him by declaring he won’t marry Pin, and gets smacked to the ground.

Saenkaew and Sasin’s eyes meet. Oh my heart. Oh the OST.

His father says he’ll ruin the reputation of everyone around him. But Saenkaew has met people who live how they want, and doesn’t believe his father anymore.

Once Prince Evil Dad finally leaves, Saenkaew also wants Sasin to leave so he can cry. Sasin is so confused.

What better time for a family vacation in Hua Hin?

Sasin is not invited.

At the beautiful beach, Saenkaew tries to stay away from Pin, but Evil Prince Dad won’t let him. Saenkaew says Sasin isn’t anything more than a friend, and Evil Prince Dad says that if he were more, it would be humiliating. I. Hate. Him.

Out on the beach, Saenkaew is nearly honest with Pin, but she parrots what Grandma said about him being worried about the future and them being happy.

So Pin plays with Homthip on the beach while Saenkaew wanders around being sad.

Only to be kidnapped by Sasin!

Who is past the accusing him phase of the relationship and now worries about him.

Pin finds them and is a little confused.

Pin’s Dad checks with Evil Prince Dad that Pin will get the money transferred to her. Evil Prince Dad checks that it will be transferred back as agreed. They are both awwwwwwwful.

Pin, alone in her room, thinks about how close Sasin and Saenkaew were.

At night, Sasin draws Saenkaew out with a flashlight. Unfortunately, Kamsu and everyone are hyper worried about Inthorn and noticed the light.

Saenkaew and Sasin hide in skinship. Then Sasin has them steal a boat for privacy on the water. But then the motor dies. And there’s a storm. Swimming to a nearby island. Refuge in a nearby cottage. And getting naked.

They can change into some strange clothes they’ve found, and Saenkaew modestly ducks behind a sheet. Sasin is amused, then turned on by the backlit Saenkaew’s naked body. I think he’s realizing something.

Oh no, snake! A real snake! Nope! A rope! A bare-chested Sasin saves Saenkaew from the rope, which makes Saenkaew laugh.

Then there’s starrrrrrrrrrrrring, and … maybe a kiss?

But the episode ends!

Our Saenkaew actor is really good at looking tearful. And he gets to do it a lot.

I wish Sasin and Saenkaew were given, like, 1 more reason to hide things from Pin. She’s clearly turned Saenkaew into her prize in a life that hasn’t given her a lot. But she hasn’t been alone, she’s had Sasin. So she’s not the saddest puppy ever. Part of the problem is that we haven’t seen enough of just her and Sasin.

Though it suck being left out. That I get.

And I get it that Sasin is worried about Pin, and the actress playing her is adorable, but I still think attacking Saenkaew via his Mom is mean. Rachawadee thinks Sasin is too simple in his thinking, but I’m not sure that’s what that was.

Our guys have been drawn to each other from the start, but when do they become aware of it? Sasin chasing Saenkaew to Hua Hin is a big tell, but I don’t think he’s put it together.

Saenkaew is so afraid of his own wants and needs, so I’m not sure he can admit them even to himself yet.

Final question: Who is the better (worse?) ship, Kalong and Inthorn, or the two Dads?
