When last we left our princess and her fairy godmother, they were caught in a compromising position.

Haruka quickly explains to Kurotaki that she slipped
While Haruka tends her poor feet, Hikaru hits on Kurotaki. But Kurotaki knows this is a test, and thinks Hikaru is a good friend for protecting Haruka. Of course, Hikaru denies it,
Haruka returns and calls Hikaru her favorite person. He hugs her from behind and warns Kurotaki not to hurt her. Then he leaves them alone. Kurotaki looks stunned by it all.
Later, Hikaru is shocked that they didn’t “do it”. Haruka thinks Kurotaki is maturely going at her pace, but Hikaru thinks she’s putting Kurotaki on a pedestal.

Camping trip time! Kurotaki invites Haruka AND Hikaru!
Haruka is ready for camping, and Hikaru is stylish. As they settle into their bungalow, Haruka asks about Hikaru’s past girlfriends or boyfriends. He hasn’t had any, prefers being alone, and doubts he’d be fun to date.
Haruka disagrees because she has so much fun with him.
After taking a selfie together, Haruka rediscovers her failed bucket list. She wonders if Hikaru wouldn’t be able to help her actually do them. Hikaru sees “get a boyfriend” listed, and after she runs off, he sadly reflects that he’s just a girlfriend.
Still, he pushes her to approach Kurotaki. After confirming Haruka likes him, Kurotaki admits he isn’t ready for a relationship. She sees him as a prince, but his last girlfriend dumped him because he wasn’t what she expected. He wants them to get to know each other.
Haruka remembers Hikaru accusing her of putting Kurotaki on a pedestal. She’s impressed and pleased that Kurotaki is being thoughtful and honest.

Hikaru handles his feelings by getting drunk
Back at their bungalow, we get a new twist on the usually BL wipe-down, as Haruka wipes Hikaru’s makeup off. Then he gets close and asks if she and Kurotaki are a couple now. Rather than hear the answer, he leaves to take a shower.
Post shower, sans wig, he runs into Kurotaki, who is his usual friendly self. This annoys Hikaru, though he suspects outloud that it’s what “she” likes.
Kurotaki realizes his new friend has a crush, and Hikaru admits it. Kurotaki uses this opening to overshare about being a loser who asked a nice girl to give him time.
Hikaru is shocked they still aren’t a couple. He reluctantly gives his phone number, but not his real name.

Back at the bungalow, Haruka sleep-mumbles that she loves Hikaru
Hikaru looks as if he’s going to cry. Then, she mumbles work nonsense about Kurotaki. Deflated by the nonsense, he tucks her under the blanket and looks so yearnnnnnnnnnning.
Back home, Kurotaki needs his new friend to do his makeup for some vague job. Like Haruka, he wants to know more about Hikaru’s love life. Hikaru isn’t sharing.
Then, Hikaru quickly hides because Haruka is there. But while sneaking out, Haruka sees him and calls his name.

Hikaru has a nightmare vision of Kurotaki rejecting him and Haruka
But Haruka’s instincts were right, Kurotaki is impressed by his makeup and confused about why he lied. Hikaru says it was to keep an eye on him, for Haruka’s sake.
Later, Haruka tells Kurotaki that Hikaru was actually worried she’d be judged for hanging around a cross-dressing guy. Kurotaki asks how they met, and she explains that Hikaru cast a spell on her, which gave her confidence and courage.
Hikaru finds Haruka lost in the makeup shop again, trying to buy him a gift. He refuses to accept one, but has them buy each other lipstick. In a park, Hikaru helps Haruka put hers on, and is mesmerized by the intimacy of being so close.
Haruka is oblivious.
Hikaru jealously asks if she’ll kiss Kurotaki with the lipstick on.
Haruka is still oblivious.

Before her next date, Haruka stops by to show Hikaru her makeup
Hikaru gives her a mediocre score for her effort, but calls her Princess and says this’ll be the last time he helps her.
While doing her makeup, Hikaru claims he lied to Kurotaki so he could hang out with her even once she starts dating, as a girlfriend. But Haruka thinks they’ll hang out together anyway.
Haruka doesn’t know that Kurotaki and Hikaru met up earlier. Kurotaki realized Hikaru’s crush is Haruka, and apologizes because he knows he’ll upset Hikaru even more.
Hikaru says to cherish her, or he’ll kill him.
Back in the now, Hikaru sadly watches Haruka walk to her date.
Later, after a shower, holding the lipstick present, a masculine Hikaru tells a feminine Hikaru in the mirror that he’s the one Haruka wants. As a friend.
Haruka meets with Kurotaki, who asks if she’d like to date him.
Poor, sad Hikari stands alone in front of the mirror with his lipstick.

Hikaru is the most yearning, sweet, fairy godmother
Just for funsies: Hikaru’s name in kanji is 光, which means light. The name he gave Kurotaki is a variation on that made by adding the kanji for 1: Kouichi, 光一
Whatever his name, he’s stuck. After helping Haruka so much with Kurotaki, confessing would give her emotional whiplash. He tries to keep his distance, but mostly makes himself miserable with jealousy.
But he’s awesome for always supporting her, in his rough way, despite his jealousy and disappointment that she sees him as only a friend.
I’m glad the story doesn’t take the easy way out and make Kurotaki a loser. He’s sweet. And not stupid. He even feels guilty enough to apologize to Hikaru. But not so guilty that he felt the need for noble idiocy, thankfully.
Because I want to see Haruka make her own choice. It’s more romantic to choose someone because they’re your favorite, even among other awesome people, than because they’re the only choice.
