When last we left our princess and her fairy godmother, the Princess dumped the Prince.

Our Fairy Godmother wants to know What Happened
Haruka explains how insecure she felt, seeing Kurotaki acting happy and like himself with Mio.
But it wasn’t his behavior that bothered her the most. It was her own. She’s felt really negative, jealous, and worthless, and knew she wouldn’t like herself if she kept feeling that way.
So she said they should break up, and he agreed without question. That bothers Hikaru.
And Haruka, too. Whenever they said goodbye, Kurotaki never looked back, like she was the only one who didn’t want to part. But he kept worrying about Mio despite breaking up.
Then she cries, because she let go of Kurotaki too easily, after all the help Hikaru gave her. But Hikaru knows she really liked Kurotaki. And he still likes her even if she hates herself. Awww.
As she cries, Hikaru gives her a nice side hug. Even better, he keeps her company that night, holding her hand while she sleeps.

But after he leaves, Haruka finds the scissors
Soon after, she’s at his school so he can fix the mess she’s made of her hair. Everyone watches, and Shu brags about Hikaru being at the top of the class and his bestest friend, giving him a side hug.
Meanwhile, Kurotaki calls his Fairy Godmother. He tells Mio that despite her advice, he screwed up. Mio wants him to review what happened so he can learn from it.
Thanks to Hikaru’s haircut, Haruka feels like a new version of herself. And Shu realizes she’d be perfect as their model for the show.
Haruka hesitates, and Hikaru refuses to ask her to do anything that makes her uncomfortable. But when Hikaru steps away, Shu tells her how important the show is, and that he can tell Hikaru thinks she’d be perfect.
But no worries, Shu will help him find a solution.
When Hikaru walks her out, she asks if he would be happy if she modeled for him. But he’s distracted by two older people walking towards them.

The man tells him he brings shame to the family!
Hikaru’s parents saw him on the school’s website and RUSHED OVER to disown him. Or his father did, his Mom is quiet.
Haruka wants the man to apologize. Hikaru says he’s used to it, and Bad Dad tells her to butt out since it doesn’t affect her.
But it does, since Hikaru is the most important person in her life. Also, what’s so bad about dressing how you want?
As they leave, Haruka is the one crying and needing comfort. But Hikaru thanks her, because he’ll be okay as long as she’s there.
He asks her to be his model, and she agrees eagerly, still crying.

Things at work with Kurotaki are awkward
For a few minutes, then they apologize to each other, and everything is fine. They’re too nice.
The next apology is from Mio to Haruka. She wanted Kurotaki to regret losing her and was too involved. But while Haruka agrees she was a part of the breakup, there were bigger problems. She wants them to be friends, and Mio agrees.
Next, Haruka gives herself raccoon eyes with eyeshadow, smudging it with her fingers. Something about it gets Hikaru thinking.
After a lot of practice, Haruka has her model walk DOWN. Then her heel breaks, she falls, and Hikaru… cushions her fall? It’s awkward, but the important thing is his shoulder is hurt. This makes applying makeup harder.
Shu notices, but Hikaru won’t let him do Haruka’s make-up.

Time for the show!
Hikaru’s Mom is in the audience!
Haruka looks great on the mini-catwalk. When she walks back, Hikaru meets her. They do a quick change on her clothes, he reaches to do her makeup, but — he drops his brush! Oh no! Disaster!
Except, inspired by her smudging her make-up earlier, he uses his fingers! Suddenly, she’s got a whole new look! Like Cinderella for the ball, except goth!
Mio is impressed! And Dad IS watching, but a live stream from home. But he still sucks.
After Hikaru lets Shu give him a big hug, but moves away when Haruka gets close. This bothers her.
Mio knows Hikaru has a crush on Haruka and warns that Haruka is single now and could date someone else. Once again, Hikaru handles his feelings with booze.
When Haruka returns, Mio helpfully tells her that he got drunk and Shu is helping him. Haruka finds him on a couch, with a shirtless Shu leaning over him and stroking his head.

A whole lot happens in that episode
I love that Hikaru reassures Haruka that her feelings for Kurtaki were sincere. Sometimes, to prove the leads are the One True Pairing, a story will negate any previous relationships. But even if she and Kurotaki didn’t make a great couple, it doesn’t mean her feelings weren’t real and intense, and so is the disappointment.
Poor everyone. I think Kurotaki wanted to be a Prince for Haruka, but it wasn’t natural for him. He couldn’t pull it off, and Haruka realized she wasn’t getting the real him. That’s disappointing for both of them.
Mio’s desire to show off her new self to an ex is understandable, though I don’t recommend acting on that feeling. But nothing she actually did was that out of line, and she wasn’t really a threat.
It’s sweet that Haruka cries more easily for Hikaru than for herself. Hikaru needs it because he also likes to pretend to be fine when he isn’t.
And it was nice to see her help him. The “conflict” of his hurt shoulder felt silly, but the point is that sometimes the Princess can rescue her Fairy Godmother, too.
