This week, I recapped episodes 31-32 of Pursuit of Jade. Did people really burn effigies of traitors from nearly 20 years ago at funerals? Seriously curious.
I also started recapping The Prosecutor’s Proposal with episodes 1-2. Finishing up Payback left me longing for toxic romance in a cruel, hopeless world. So. Here I am again!

What did I watch this week? Lately, it seems like all I want is toxic or quirky, and this falls into the latter category:
Connecting to You – 整個世界，只有你連上了我 – 2026
Currently airing supernatural Taiwanese BL, I’ve watched 4 of 12 episodes.
A young do-gooder with supernatural senses finds himself unexpectedly connected to a coldly rational cop. Hijinks and romance ensue.
So far, this is a lot of silly fun with hints of sincerity
The supernatural set-up is this: our young college student can see the relationships tying people together via different-colored threads literally connecting them. These different colors will give important information about those relationships.
The frustrating thing is that he’s never seen a thread tying him to anyone else.
He’s a good kid and tries to use this power to help people as much as possible. He’s also a kid and tries to use it to make a little money. Unfortunately, both of these things get him in trouble, repeatedly, with the local police.
It’s not a great sign for a couple when the relationship starts with one of them calling the other “perverted college student.”
But then our Perverted College Student suddenly sees a thread grow out of his head and attach to the Cold Cop’s. And here we are.
The romance and vibe are very sitcom
As of episode 4, we’ve only had one intense stare between the two of them.
Most of the time has been spent more on introducing their, er, unique personalities. For example, Perverted College Student has a surprising streak of bravery, and Cold Cop is terrified of cockroaches.
There’s a nice lightness to the tone, and none of the nastiness that some genuine sitcoms have. Characters may misunderstand each other and get each other in trouble, but for the most part, they are trying to do good. Not that there are no villains, we’ve already met a couple.
There’s also some touching vulnerability to our main characters. Why didn’t our Perverted College Student have any threads? In theory, he should at least have some tying him to family, but he doesn’t. Apparently, our Cold Cop has some hostility in his family thread.
I’m sure we’re going to get the answers to these questions at some point.
As for the main plot, Perverted College Student wants to understand and sever his connection to Cold Cop. That means sticking close to him. The cop? Doesn’t believe in the supernatural at all.
There have been a few cases of the week-type situations, but no larger external conflict. There are hints of something larger and more personal in episode 4, but I’m not sure if it’ll be a shorter or longer issue.
I’m excited for the romance to really get started
One of my favorite things is a light, silly show with surprising depth to the characters and their feelings.
In fact, the two others that immediately come to mind are also Taiwanese: all-time favorite BL See Your Love and all-time favorite supernatural bromance Oh No! Here Comes Trouble.
I’m feeling hopefully optimistic that this will be a combination of those two, and maybe another all-time favorite?
