Pre-Recap Information:
Since I enjoyed Joong and Dunk in The Heart Killers, I was aware of this show being in production.
However, what really caught my eye about this show was discovering it was being released on Netflix. I don’t remember Netflix releasing any other Thai BL concurrently while it was airing. I’m not sure why this show was picked either, but I like the idea of Thai BL reaching a wider audience.
But this is my kind of show anyway. It’s got a classic buddy-cop story feel, with a quick meet-cute between two cops at polar ends of the personality spectrum. Despite these mismatched personalities, they quickly form a bond, which I’m hoping will be important when powerful people get involved in the case in one way or another.
(This is in interesting contrast to another show I’ve been recap-reviewing: Goddess Bless You From Death. The set-up there, with the witness needing to both be protected and help the case, feels more like a classic thriller.)
The case itself is giving me more 90s horror film vibes, with its “I Know What You Did Last Summer” group-of-young-people-hiding-things feeling. It’s a good set-up, I want to know what they are all hiding.
But while I enjoy a mix of BL and mystery, I’m mainly here for the BL
I won’t mind if we have bad or even nonsensical policework, though extra points will be awarded if it is good. The ultimate bad guy doesn’t have to make sense. If some of the actions of our main character, taken seriously, would be really upsetting, let’s not take them seriously.
What I want is for the horror/mystery to create dangerous moments for our guys to grow closer, play I’ll-protect-you-you-protect-me, and push them into each other’s arms.
Let’s see what we get.
