When last we left our ghost and his reincarnated lover, Kaew had a sex dream.

Yai continues his never-leave-Kaew-alone courtship
By inviting himself on Kaew’s errands. But Kaew has a date, Ruedee, so Yai is rejected. At least Chai isn’t driving them.
Unfortunately, they are going to pick up Kaew’s portrait from Horrible Teacher. At the school, Sophee tells them the Horrible Teacher left, but the portrait is in the classroom. Also, she needs Ruedee’s help with her stomach pains.
It’s a set-up, but Kaew thinks he’s safe going alone to an empty room. But there, Horrible Teacher assaults him. When Kaew threatens to tell the Chancellor, he’s knocked out with a drugged handkerchief.

Yai knows this is happening
Because of his ghost senses? His Kaew senses? I dunno, but against Saen’s warnings, he transports himself there to attack Horrible Teacher. His eyes turn red as he strangles him. Saen follows and drags Yai away to keep him from accumulating more sins to cancel out the merits.
Kaew wakes up long enough to see Yai collapsed on the ground before passing out again. Later, Ruedee revives him. Once he’s awake enough to remember what happened, Kaew frantically looks for the portrait. He can’t find it and cries.
Back at home, he asks Sin about Yai being there. Sin has no excuses prepared and admits Yai was there. But Sin won’t let him see Yai. Both our lovers are in bad shape and worried about each other.
That night, Kaew dreams of Long-Haired Kaew practicing his dance moves, and Yai giving him a back hug and suggesting sex. No, not sex, portrait drawing that leads to sex.
But this flashback, Yai stops Kaew from untying his pants to tell him he loves him. He wants to know if Kaew feels the same. Kaew feels it’s obvious, but won’t say the words until Yai gets back from a business trip. What is with this trend toward arbitrary deadlines for relationship steps?
Though asleep, 1940s Kaew promises aloud that he’ll say it.

The monk is here to be confusing again
He tells Kaew’s mom that Kaew can come to him for answers. Mom is politely confused.
Sophee and Horrible Teacher argue over payment. No one cares, but Horrible Teacher tells her the man in the portrait appeared. So uh-oh, now she knows.
Kaew wakes up and looks for Yai. He finds Sin, Saen, and Nanny Yam, talking vaguely about Yai being sick and how he finally met Kaew.
Yai asks Saen to ask Sin to give Kaew one of a pair of matching rings. It’s an odd gift from a near stranger, and Kaew reacts appropriately. Sin says Yai was hoping Kaew would see it and remember something.
He does, seeing Yai putting it on Long-Haired Kaew’s finger. Then, Yai seems to appear behind him and says something about the old times, but he’s not there.

The ghosts have successfully really confused Kaew
He puts the ring on, then takes it off and puts it away. His Mom tells him about the monk’s offer to answer his questions. Now they can be confused together.
Meanwhile, Saen strangles Horrible Teacher and threatens to kill him if he goes near Kaew again.
Kaew offers dessert to Sin right in front of Nanny Yam, who doesn’t get any. Because it’s drugged. Sin sleeps so deeply that Yai can’t wake him as Kaew goes down into the cellar.
There, he finds a memorial picture of the dead landlord. It’s Yai. Kaew flashes back, and all the pieces come together. There’s a coffin sitting there, and Kaew unwisely opens it, revealing embracing, dried-up corpses. Very creepy and kinda graphic for this show.

Kaew is done, done, done, and needs to leave
Yai appears in front of him, asking if he remembers the promise, because he’s been waiting for him. That doesn’t help, and Kaew pushes past him. On his way out, he sees Saen and Nanny Yam and realizes they’re ghosts too.
Saen tries to guilt him about Yai waiting for him, but Kaew rushes outside. Yai follows him, still asking him if he loves him anymore. Kaew runs past the gate while Yai cries and watches him leave.
The next day, Kaew is at Ruedee’s. After some pushing, he tells her and Chai what happened.
Back at Yai’s, Saen nearly commits filicide (new word!) by strangling Sin. But it’s not really Sin’s fault he got drugged, and Sin doesn’t seem to mind his Dad nearly killing him.

Yai is certain Kaew hates him, and it’s over
Kaew dreams of dancing for Yai in the cellar. Yai asks him if he doesn’t love him anymore, and asks him to come back, then vanishes. Chai walks in as Kaew calls for Yai in his sleep. After waking, Kaew explains that his heart is hurting over Yai, and he doesn’t know why.
With Ruedee’s support, it’s time to get those answers from the monk.
The monk tells him that Yai has followed him from the past life because of a promise. He’ll be free if he atones for his sins. But then he and Yai will no longer be bound by promises and be parted forever.
That’s not what Kaew wants. He wants to know what promise he made, and why it hurts to see Yai in pain. He’s worried Yai’s suffering is because of him. The monk tells him to go back before it’s too late.

Because a tiny mob is going after Yai
It’s Chai, two random guys, and a shaman. Saen and Sin come out, and the two extras grab Sin, leaving Saen to attack the shaman.
Yai comes to protect Saen, taking hits from the shaman’s magic weapons. He wants to know if Kaew asked for this, because he never had an issue with Chai. It seemed like he did, though.
Whatever, Chai is anti-ghost-human-connections and protecting Kaew. The whole past-lovers thing is news to Chai, but he refuses to leave or let Kaew have a say.
Yai attacks the shaman, even though this risks his spirit being gone forever. I’m not sure why he’s doing this, except to protect his people?

Kaew arrives, stopping everything
Nearly, the shaman is poised to throw a magic knife through Kaew and into Yai when Chai stops him. Kaew asks the tiny mob to leave.
Yai collapses, and Kaew rushes to him. Though he doesn’t remember anything, he asks Yai to wait until he does. Yai says he will, but vanishes. Then Ruedee arrives with something from the monk. It’s incense to burn, and while it burns, he’ll remember things. I think.
Chai helpfully offers his opinion that this is all pointless. Kaew says the point is this indescribable pain in his heart, and trying to understand and ease it.

So Kaew lights the incense, and while Yai watches, he sees the past
Long-Haired Kaew dances at the school or whatever it is, but can’t focus with Yai watching. He misses a step and is forced to clean the floor as punishment. This makes him resent Yai.
Then he misses another step, on the stairs, and fall-kisses Yai in front of everyone. I hate fall kisses, and so does Kaew. He punches Yai. As punishment, he holds a cold compress to Yai’s face.
Yai teases Long-Haired Kaew that since he hurt him, he’s responsible for him, but Long-Haired Kaew flees the flirting.
Ruedee also nearly falls down the stairs, but Saen catches her without it becoming a kiss. She’s embarrassed to be caught spying on Long-Haired Kaew and Yai.
At home, Sophee whines at Yai until he takes her out to shop and see fireworks. But he abandons her the minute he sees Long-Haired Kaew there. Yai walks up to him, they stare, and the fireworks and OST go all in.

So what is the promise?
Is it as simple as Kaew never actually saying he loved Yai? I feel certain Long-Haired Kaew was dead before Yai returned from the business trip.
I’m confused about what Kaew can do to be free (or not) of Yai, and what he’s doing with the incense. I blame my lack of understanding of karma and Thai, and the subtitles being unclear. Probably, it’ll become clear in the next episode.
Kaew’s confused feelings over Yai are really interesting. So far, he hasn’t come off as strongly attracted or interested in him (and neither was Long Haired Kaew at first). That makes these strange, strong feelings he’s having all the more confusing. I wonder if he’ll eventually need to sort out which feelings are his, and which are Long-Haired Kaew’s.
I’m all for angry red-eyed ghosts battling a shaman. Saen in particular is surprisingly fierce for an otherwise affable guy. I want to see more different aspects of his personality, and more about him and Ruedee.
More red-eyed, angry Yai is welcome too. But also, I’m as eager as Kaew to find out how they ended up as those sad corpses. And I’d like to see Sophee suffer a whole lot.
