Pre-Recap Information:

Supernatural + Mystery is one of my happy places, and if it takes me out of Bangkok, that’s fun too.

Here we’ve got Peem, a cop who’s become self-destructive and reckless in her quest to get the bad guys. She has her reasons. Because the bad guys are using supernatural means, she seeks out Spiritual Master Bulan for help.

Even though Peem doesn’t even seem to believe in the supernatural. But she’s desperate.

But, unknown to Peem, she’s Bulan’s karmic soulmate.

It’s impossible not to see the relationship with this plot to both Goddess Bless You From Death and Khemjira. Goddess Bless You From Death involved a skeptical cop and a witness who could see ghosts. Khemjira involved a spiritual master with past-life ties to a young college student who could see ghosts.

Peem is getting off easy because she can’t see ghosts. So far anyway. But she is haunted by them.

Anyway, since I liked both those shows, I’m excited for this one too. Besides Peem not seeing ghosts, the karmic soulmate and Bulan’s attitude about it are very different from anything in those other two shows. My biggest questions probably are: What does it mean to be Bulan’s karmic soulmates? What about free will?

Also, I like getting to see different ghosts and spirits.

A note: In the past I’ve used the term “shaman” to describe characters like Bulan, but I’ve never been entirely happy with it. Here I’m trying out “spiritual master” instead. Honestly, I don’t love it, but I think it’s better than “shaman” or relying on the internet for Thai terms I don’t understand.
