When last we left our hapless housemates, Latte was fixing things for Almond and Peak ruining things with Thanwa. I’m afraid things get messier before they get better.
Because Peak is incapable of taking action
Our cold open is him thinking about Thanwa, getting excited when Thanwa gets home, and seeing Thanwa’s horrible ex, Max, behind him.
The morning routine changes again. Thanwa hands Peak breakfast and leaves for a job interview. Almond and Latte leave for a trip together. Jane goes home after giving Peak a pep talk. Jane is Too Good.
Alone, Peak gives us a confusing, poorly edited, Wandee-Goodday-style flashback. He’s lying on Thanwa’s floor, so it’s before Jane leaves. Thanwa explains he’s just going back to being friends with Max. Peak nearly says something but doesn’t.
This is peak Peak
Thanwa interviews for a 9-5 company job. It’s not a dream job, and he talks frankly with the interviewer about this. Not a great interview tactic, but facing reality is a theme for Thanwa in this episode.
That night, Peak tries to almost maybe confess, but then Thanwa gets a text that he passed the interview. Would Peak have confessed if that text didn’t happen? I dunno, it’s Peak.
Thanwa also gets a call about a food review job. Since it’s a theme, he asks his friend whether to do what he should do versus what he loves. It sounds like Thanwa wants to try for both since he accepted the food review job.
For some reason, Peak invites Max over for dinner. No Peak, no. Max is horrible, bossy, and arrogant. Peak thinks he sees Thanwa getting a goodbye kiss and pushes him to go home with Max. No Peak, no.
Latte and Almond’s amazing vacation
On the way to their hotel, Latte lets Almond sleep on his shoulder, shares his earbuds, and carries his bags. He’s in full Almond-caretaker-cheer-up mode, getting him to yell out his stress, making him laugh, and teaching him to flirt at a bar. Only, Latte gets jealous and Almond gets drunk. For both reasons, Latte drags Almond away from his conquest.
An angry Almond accuses Latte of being like his mom. He gets pushy and makes out with Latte. Latte isn’t into it and takes control, turning it into a gentler make-out session. Too gentle and intimate, so he rolls away. Almond cries about being unwanted. Latte pulls him into a sweet cuddle, which is what Almond needs. He tells Almond there’s no need to force it.
Almond starts to change his mind about his luck
At a temple the next day, Almond feels better. He gets a fortune telling him his love is nearby. So, Latte isn’t bad luck but his love?
They run into an old friend of Latte’s, which makes Almond jealous. The friend gives them coupons for some water paddling thing that terrifies Almond. Latte coaxes him into the water and promises to take care of him. Awww.
After, sitting together by the sea, Almond thanks Latte for comforting him last night. Latte opens up about how his parents broke up on the beach. His mother abandoned him, so he doesn’t believe in love and doesn’t like the sea.
Almond gives him the perfect hug and apologizes for bringing him out there. Latte doesn’t mind though, this is Almond’s healing trip. And thanks to Almond, the sea might be his favorite place. Oh, the feels. Almond feels them and tries to escape, but Latte pulls him back. Almond says he also likes the sea the most.
One cold open closes, and another cold opening … opens?
When we catch up to the cold open, Peak is finally, awkwardly telling Thanwa his feelings. Then Max shows up and says Thanwa is moving back with him. Peak tries to get him to stay or keep the key, but Thanwa leaves.
The cold open for the next episode is the college gang and Peak about to knock on a door, when Thanwa opens it from the other side.
The new morning routine is Peak setting fires in the kitchen and general chaos. They all miss Thanwa.
Thanwa’s not having a great time either
Thankfully, he isn’t back in a relationship with Max. He’s staying with him until he gets his salary and can move again. Max thinks he did it to prove something to Peak. He’s right but he’s still horrible. Stay tuned.
Even living apart, Peak and Thanwa are so in sync that they unexpectedly run into each other at the crispy pork place. They share a table and Peak rushes his eating again, but Thanwa gets him to slow down. As they leave, they can’t stop looking over their shoulders at each other, but drama timing means they never meet eyes.
Thanwa gets an exciting food reviewer job. He wants to call Peak but texts the group.
Max is pressuring Thanwa for sex, so Thanwa packs his bags to move out right away. Max gets physically aggressive and Thanwa fights back. In the process, Thanwa discovers a hidden camera on one of the shelves.
Meanwhile, the college squad is on the case
Jumper apologizes to everyone for jumping to conclusions. He and Almond are okay again too. Almond is so okay that he and Latte hold hands under the table, to Lukpeach’s delight.
They convince Peak to do some shady internet things to track down the IP address of the person who posted the video of Jumper and Shawn. As luck would have it, Latte knows someone who lives in the same building and can get them in. Someone comfortable enough to put his hand around Latte’s waist. Almond isn’t pleased.
They catch up to the cold open at Max’s front door where they tell Thanwa what’s going on. Thanwa is horrified, Jumper goes after Max with his fists, and it’s a mess. They call the police and wait outside.
On his way out, Thanwa picks up the hidden camera and seems about to put it in his pocket. Peak catches him and accuses him of protecting Max. Thanwa says that Peak never understood him and throws the camera at him.
Almond and Latte for the win
But despite how it may sound, I like Thanwa and Peak too. They’re dealing with less-cute, adulting problems like jobs, expectations, and super understanding fiancés. They don’t get to go to the beach on school break, but it’s nice seeing them support each other. And it was rough to see them not be able to lean on each other here.
My sympathy only goes so far, and Peak wore on my patience over these episodes. Thanwa dealt with the job thing, Peak, it’s time for you to deal with your problems! And apologize to Thanwa!
To be fair, Latte and Almond weren’t all sunshine and rainbows in these two episodes either. I thought their trip together was well done, with Latte helping but then struggling to stop what he’d accidentally started at the bar. Almond’s drunken meltdown was intense, but felt like it brought him and Latte closer. They were both emotionally vulnerable with each other, making the sweet moments even sweeter. More of them! I demand more!
