Pre-Recap Information:
It’s time to return to Korea! I recently recapped Love for Love’s Sake but this is only my second recap-review foray into that penninsula. But I’ve watched plenty of Korean dramas (both BL and not) and know I’m in for angst, intensity, and less straightforward storytelling. I’m ready!
As far as this show, I haven’t watched anything except the first episode so I can only say so much about it.
I know we have Do Hoe, a smart kid with a brutal father who is also the local taekwondo grandmaster. He lives in a small town somewhere where his father’s abuse affects more than just him.
A stranger comes to town. This stranger is Ju Yeong, and he is made of smiles. He knows nothing about the grimly horrible place he’s been sent to for reasons that will hopefully get fully explained. Or not, this is a Korean show.
I know not to expect happiness easily or soon and with this kind of dark setup that’s not what I want. I want to see our smiling sunshine face the darkness to help our grumpier lead. It’s the best reward when someone who thinks there’s no light in the world learns there is and chooses it over darkness.
But we’ll see! I may be disappointed or I may get something else and decide I’m happy with that too.
