Me and Thee, Me and Who – WDIW December 13th, 2025

Welcome to my Saturday blog post, where I give thoughts on dramas I’m watching, whether at the beginning, middle, or end. Whatever I want, because I’m petty that way.

This week, I recapped episodes 33-34 of The Prisoner of Beauty. We’re nearly at the end, and the bad guys are being really, really bad.

I also recapped episodes 5-6 of Goddess Bless You From Death. Our characters are balancing cuddling and death very well.

What did I watch this week? Two shows with titles that feel like they could be turned into an updated version of the ancient “Who’s on First?” sketch. Let’s start with an initial review of:

Me and Thee – มีสติหน่อยคุณธีร์ – 2025

Currently airing poor-rich-mafia guy with laid-back guy BL, I’m at 4 out of 10 episodes.

The most laid-back photographer in the world becomes the obsession of a rich mafia heir with a loose grip on reality.

Here’s a link to the trailer.

Lately I’ve been a bit angst-averse, so I wasn’t going to start this one ‘cause mafia, but internet convinced me to give it a try.

So far, it’s a light, funny rom-com with over-the-top-characters in an absurd courtship-not-courtship. With 10 episodes total, I’m hopeful the show will maintain its light, fun tone without descending into long bouts of crying.

The main question is, who do we feel the sorriest for?

Our two leads are definitely in an opposites-attract situation. One of them is the wealthy heir of a questionable business who obsessively watches soap operas. He’s convinced that money can buy him anything he wants, and he has all the money.

Our other guy isn’t poor, but he came from poorer circumstances. He wants to have an easy life, but has accidentally become a popular photographer. He’s compassionate, kind, and nothing bothers him.

Because of an incident with a model in a bathroom, these two meet. Our Mafia Guy falls fast and hard. Our Laid-Back Guy has no idea. Even after our Mafia Guy starts seriously pursuing him, our Laid-Back Guy has no idea. Even after Mafia Guy tells him he likes him, our Laid-Back Guy has no idea.

So do we feel sorry for Mafia Guy, because nothing he does seems to get through to Laid-Back Guy? Or do we feel sorry for Laid-Back Guy, because Mafia Guy’s attentions are… a lot. The show has fun playing with his grandiose, soap-opera style efforts and actions.

It’s light and fun, but the characters have depth

Even when I’m feeling angst-averse, if a show is too fluffy, it can feel like there’s no solid ground and nothing matters. But at nearly the midpoint, we’ve been given firm foundations for why our leads are the way they are, lighting a path for where this all might be going.

I’m hoping our Laid-Back Guy gives Mafia Guy the support he needs to make the life he wants for himself. And I’m hoping Mafia Guy gives Laid-Back Guy a reason to fight for something instead of just letting things slide. All while keeping it fun.

(Side note, I do enjoy seeing how the established Thai-pairings’ characters change from show to show. Based on this and We Are, Pond plays the high-strung ones, and Phuwin plays the calm and down-to-earth ones. Based on 2 shows.)

Speaking of light and fun, I also finished:

Me and Who – โปตัวปลอม – 2025

Recently aired Thai body-jumping contract marriage BL with 10 episodes.

A poor, unfortunately, orphan finally has some good luck when he dies and wakes up in the body of a spoiled, rich young man. Who has a fiancée. A nice, big one.

Here’s a link to the trailer.

This did exactly what I wanted, staying a sweet, sincere, silly, and shallow show from beginning to end. I gave a lot of details about the setup in my initial review, so I’m not going to do that again.

Let’s talk about what the show wasn’t and what it was

It wasn’t The Boy Next World or A Christmas Carol, with a different reality existing to teach our character about what they really want.

There is the faintest bit of a Reset style, solve-the-mystery-of-what-happened-before-they-entered-this-body story, but it’s mainly so that the story can have a climactic ending. They don’t spend much time on it.

The otherworldly set-up exists so that two very different characters can meet when they likely wouldn’t have otherwise. Their differences attract each other and help each other grow by inspiring each other and kissing. In that way, it’s an even lighter version of what the show reviewed above seems to be.

It is not a show to be taken in any way seriously. Characters’ behavior doesn’t always make the most sense, and some characters get redemption who don’t really deserve it. But for me, it was never bad enough to ruin the show. At least those characters actually apologized instead of just being forgiven ‘cause love.

Really, it was a very sweet power-couple show, with our leads learning to work together and depend on each other to overcome the few bits of plot that flew their way.  In that way, it’s also a bit like Reset, though far less intense.

It’s not a gripping, tightly plotted ride of a show. It’s a warm blanket after a long day.

There’s also a very sweet secondary couple, in case you needed even more sweetness. Turns out I did.

Also, the peacock shows up at the climactic end scene, and I am giving the show +100 points for that alone.

I’d watch a sequel about the other reality

Without getting too spoilery, it’s clear the selfish, cold, rich guy whose body our poor lead takes over has his own romantic adventure we never see. Considering that right before they switched bodies, our poor guy won the lottery, there must be a good story there.

I won’t hold my breath waiting for it. But Me and Who is a show I can see myself rewatching, not because it’s amazing, but to see two nice people fall nicely in love.

(Side note, as far as the characters they play across shows: Park plays the slender, smaller one. Big plays the big one. Yeah, that was the easy joke.)

“It is not a show to be taken in any way seriously.”

Absolutely yes. It was also a very cute, sweet show.

There were some cringy moments, but by the time the worst scenes came, I was so far into it, that I could just power through and know there was more cuteness and sweetness coming.
