Welcome to my Saturday blog post where I give thoughts on dramas I’m watching, whether at the beginning, middle, or end. Whatever I want, because I’m petty that way.
This week I recapped episodes 5-6 of See Your Love. It’s a testament to my love for this show that it has a fall kiss, something I think would be the most embarrassing thing ever and not at all sexy, and I still love it so much.
I also recapped episodes 5-6 of The Heart Killers. Our hitmen are now in love, making things even more dangerous for their duplicitous lovers.
Before I talk about what I watched this week, I need to bring up something extremely important:

Pit Babe Season 2 Official Teaser came out this week.
I’m going to spend some time fondly reminiscing about Pit Babe below so there will be spoilers. You’ve been warned.
(You can also read my recaps and spoil the entire thing.)
Normally, I’m not one to get excited over trailers and teasers, I just watch whatever. But guys, this is Pit Babe. I watched it several times. Then I went and rewatched parts from season 1.
Remember when Jeff got captured and Alan was upset he wasn’t texting back? But it was okay because Jeff got kidnapped later and Alan got to help rescue him.
Remember when they failed to rescue Kim? But it was fine because Jeff rescued him off-screen at some point.
Remember when Pit Babe cried for several episodes while everyone was like, your boyfriend died but just GET OVER IT ALREADY.
Remember how hot Pete was with… everyone?
So yeah, I’m excited for season 2 starting in just under a month. Yes, I will be recapping.
Now that I’ve gotten all that silly nonsense out of my system, let’s talk about the very serious vampire BL I started this week:

My Golden Blood – เลือดนายลมหายใจฉัน – 2025
Currently airing Thai Vampire BL, I’ve watched 4 of 12 episodes.
An innocent young man raised to believe he has hemophilia leaves home and discovers the truth: his blood is irresistible to vampires.
The poster is a pretty honest representation of the show. It’s campy and silly with romantic tropes older than our vampire lead. I’m enjoying it a whole lot. But what do I mean when I say old-school romantic tropes?

We’ve got an innocent needing protection and a worldly cynic who needs his love
To be fair to the innocent, it’s not his fault he has no idea what’s going on. At some point, those around him decided it would be better for him to wander around, oblivious that he’s vampire catnip, rather than teach him to defend himself.
This works because a super hot, muscled, serious vampire has been stoically watching over and protecting him his whole life.
But all innocents must go to college in Bangkok one day. Eager to finally live the life he’s been sheltered from, our innocent finds a nest of vampires and a ridiculous way to cut himself. Like that, he learns the horrible truth and we get some cheap VFX.
The tropes don’t stop here though. Our innocent has to run from this virile, threatening vamp so that he can learn he needs his protection from even more dangerous vampires out there. Then, we get to the silly back-and-forth between the irresistible innocent and his cold-hearted protector. The innocent seems more concerned with teaching our vampire about love and kindness, and literally keeping him at arm’s length, rather than whether he lives or dies.
At a third of the way in, it’s stuck faithfully enough to tropes that I have no idea if it’ll eventually subvert them or if we’re staying classic to the end.

I grew up reading old romances, and this is nostalgia territory for me
Kinda, because as I mentioned earlier, college in Bangkok. As is the fate of roughly half of all Thai BL, at least part of the show must be spent on campus. Yes, our poor, centuries-old vampire wears a white shirt and black slacks and attends college to keep an eye on our innocent. At least it’s not High School. And he gets to play basketball.
Also, these vampires can walk around in the sun and aren’t bothered by crosses or much else. They can’t taste and enjoy food unless a certain innocent happens to be around, awakening their desire for the taste of… tomato juice.
So far the danger of the other vampires has mainly existed to force our innocent to realize he needs his vampire. I’m expecting them to throw a lot of dramatic conflict into the second half of our show. If our vampire doesn’t sacrifice himself at least once to save our innocent I will be very disappointed.
I’m hoping for over-the-top dramatics and an ending that prioritizes ridiculous romance over realism.
