My Romance Scammer – Episode 3-4 – Recap and Review

When last we left our rich cousins and their scammers, one couple was married and the other engaged.

Tim needs U to gain Pai’s trust

So Pai stops worrying about North and focuses on their wedding.

Tim is right to worry because Pai is forgetting wedding-related appointments. But Tim is also struggling with his feelings, getting weird and shy when Pai helps him with his fly and belt.

At work, Pai’s Aunt walks into his office without knocking and accuses Pai of having too much power and control. Tim gets annoyed and tells her to go away and leave Pai alone.

After, Tim apologizes for losing his cool, but Pai thinks he was cool.

Over lunch, Tim tells his lawyer friend how tired and stressed Pai was when his aunt went after him. Lawyer reminds him, “Do Not Fall For Your Target!”

Tim claims he’s not, but admits he saw a part of Pai that makes him protective. Later, on a date with his Sugar Momma, he buys a stuffed duck that reminds him of Pai when he’s upset. He tells Sugar Momma that it’s for some kid.

Sugar Momma stuns Tim by suggesting he must adore this kid.

Back at work, North and U come into Pai’s office without knocking

For Tim’s plan, they’re inviting Pai over for dinner to get to know U. Pai tries to avoid it, but with his secretary’s help, the dinner is suddenly on for That Night.

The problem is, neither U nor North can cook. North gets help from his bakery friend, but even at the last minute, he’s trying to avoid dinner. U wants North to tell him, honestly, why he always avoids Pai. We don’t hear the answer yet.

Pai and Tim arrive, and immediately, Tim accidentally reveals he knows where the bathroom is. Then, he discovers U’s (Fake) Mom is his (Fake) Mom. He manages to wave (Fake) Mom away and tells U they nearly had to fake being long-lost siblings.

Alone, Tim asks North how he fell in love so fast. North explains that for him, love can happen in an instant. What’s more important is what happens next.

In the kitchen, U tells Pai he didn’t know anything about North’s family when they got married (true). He likes North because he’s kind and wants to protect him from the harshness of the world.

Sitting down to dinner, we flashback to why North avoids Pai: He thinks he makes Pai’s life harder, so he wants to handle his mistakes on his own. But U suggests cutting Pai out only makes him worry more.

So North tells Pai how hard U worked to make dinner. Pai continues to act tough, but tries U’s fried fish and says it’s not bad. The couples chat, and Tim puts his hand on Pai’s knee. It’s sweet and domestic and not going to last.

Then, Pai overhears U and North being sweet and invites them to a family lunch

North hugs him happily. Tim and U also hug happily.

Pai wants to know if Tim would shield him from the truth, like U would North. Tim says he’d distract him. Pai feels Tim and U are alike, because they both fell first and fell hard. Also, U looks at North the way Tim looks at him.

Then Pai notices the stuffed animal in the backseat. He’s not flattered at being compared to a duck, but accepts it when Tim fakes hurt feelings.

Back at North’s, U and North are excited by their success. U says that he finally feels like he has a family, and North doesn’t notice the implications. They confess their love, and then there’s sweet kissing and attack kissing.

Then it falls apart, like it always does

North takes treats from his bakery to U’s mother’s, only to find the house being shown by a real estate agent. The poor agent reveals that con artists often used the place, and North passes out.

When U returns to North’s place, everyone is waiting. Pai wants him arrested and the two divorced. U loves North and doesn’t want a divorce. Rather than let Pai kill him, they tie U to a chair.

But, they need evidence to arrest U. Pai wants North to get that evidence, but North is tired of it all.

Pai let’s U talk to North alone, but he and Tim watch via the teddy-bear camera he sent the other day. U explains to North that he’s no longer a con artist. North is just tired and confused about what to do with a tied-up husband.

Pai is so furious about U, he’s learning to use a gun

Tim is terrified. He grabs the gifts Pai gave him, leaves a letter, and prepares to run. But then he has to meet a man in a cowboy hat with a sheriff’s badge on it. Tim owes this man money, and the man will hurt him if he doesn’t get it back.

Running isn’t an option. He goes back home, only to unexpectedly find Pai home from work early. Tim uses sex to distract Pai from finding his letter or bag of gifts.

Pai’s lawyer is a familiar face, but so is U’s. It’s Tim’s lawyer friend, Prem. He points out that North proposed, U was upfront about being poor, and he got nothing from renting the fake house.

The check North gave U comes up, and everyone is horrified. But U never asked for that money either.

Pai demands that North get divorced and get his money back. North is not to believe anything U says, tell no one what happened, and not to fall in love with U again.

North agrees and apologizes to Pai. He didn’t think it would be a big deal.

Suddenly, Pai puts off his marriage until he can sort out his assets

Tim pretends this is fine. It isn’t.

North puts his husband in … a baby cage? And acts tough by turning up the AC. But when he takes U’s blanket, he gets skinship and nearly kissed. Later, he’s still thinking about that moment and puts the blanket on shivering U. I get it U, I get it.

At work, Pai learns that Tim was in an accident. He’s at the hospital with a Head2Head-style bandage on his forehead.

But this is all part of a plan to get Pai to realize he needs the legal protection of marriage for this kind of situation. Kinda. Tim was supposed to crash his car into a tree. He couldn’t do it, but a stranger helpfully rear-ended him.

It works anyway. Pai skips work to be home with Tim, because Tim is his whole world, and he couldn’t live without him. Pai wants to be married as soon as Tim feels better. Kisssssses!

North and his Bakery friend also have a plan to get rid of U

By making U cheat with Bakery Friend. But U isn’t interested in sleeping with Bakery Friend, no matter how aggressive he gets. While North watches from the Teddy-cam, Bakery Friend says North gave U to him. Yuck.

North interrupts and pulls his friend away. Bakery Friend suggests that North still has feelings for U. Also, he thinks U looked really upset when he told U that North gave him away.

Alone, U teases North about his scheme, then asks if he really did give him away, because that would break his heart. North no longer trusts U, but U swears he stopped lying a while ago. Poor North is very confused about his feelings.

U is happy to help him figure them out, and sloooowly goes in for a kiss. North lets him.

The wedding preparations are back on, but Pai has another fight with his aunt. He’s done being CEO and wants to work with Tim instead.

Tim is stunned.

This show does a really good job of making things worse for Tim

Every time he gets Pai back on track, he gets closer to being nearly exposed. How long until it finally happens?

North is a sweet creature with no natural defences. Not only did it hurt to find out U was a con artist, but he didn’t get any time to process his feelings or have any say in fixing the problem. Pai completely took over.

I want to see North and U become an adorable power couple, with North standing up for both of them to Pai.

How will Pai take it when he realizes he fell into the same trap as his cousin? Obviously, Pai is a victim, but with how overbearing he is with North, it feels like it’ll be a massive blow to his confidence to realize he can make mistakes, too.

On the other hand, I doubt Pai will accept U in the family until he knows the truth about Tim, and accepts him.

As for our scammers, is U being genuine now? I want him to be, but I don’t know. I wonder if he’ll somehow get the money back to prove himself.

Tim is the biggest mystery to me, and I like it. He’s struggling with his feelings for Pai, but he is also a coward ready to run. Once the truth comes out, what will he do to keep Pai in his life? I hope he fights for him, too. I’m looking forward to learning more about him and seeing him grow.
