My Romance Scammer – Episode 7-8 – Recap and Review

When last we left our rich cousins and their scammers, one pair got divorced, and the other is a day away from their wedding.

But that means that There Are Problems

Tim’s (Fake) Mom, U’s (Real) Aunt, can’t be there because North will recognize her. She was going to be in charge of the fake family. U takes the job instead.

(Fake) Mom pretends to be sick, Pai gets nervous, and Tim promises to support him.

And like that, wedding time! Our grooms look amazing. North is too sweet and has no idea the tall guy next to him in the facemask is his ex-husband.

There’s the ceremony, the signing of the paperwork, and it’s done! They kiss, and can live happily ever after!

Nope, finally it fell apart, like it always does

Tim’s fake relative hits on North, U hits the guy with his shoulder, and Pai immediately recognizes U.

But the bigger problem is that the Sugar Mommas learned Tim was a conman, and are here for revenge. They reveal the truth to the entire wedding party, attack him with flowers, and tear the venue apart.

Pai is destroyed. The look on his face is worse than seeing Tim humiliated.

Amidst the chaos, Tim is hit over the head with a bottle. He wakes up at the hospital with only U there, but immediately rips out his IV to go back to Pai.

Pai tells his Grandfather he’ll give up everything, and all he asks is that Tim not be sued or arrested. Grandpa accepts.

Now he’s useless to Tim and asks him to get out of his life. Tim stops Pai from leaving with a wrist grab, and Pai notices the injury from the IV on Tim’s hand, but Tim pulls his hand away.

U wisely convinces Tim to let Pai go for now.

Next, North yells at Grandpa that he should disown him, too. And gets his wish.

Our rich guys are locked out of their places

They only have the clothes on their backs, and two conmen waiting in the lobby.

Pai shoves Tim, but Tim tells him to stop acting like a tough guy. He knows he’s exhausted. He wants Pai to let him take care of him, and once he’s back on his feet, they can go from there.

Tim still has his place, but Pai is adamantly against staying there. So he gets U’s place.

At Tim’s place, our good sweet North checks if Tim really loves Pai, and believes his yes. North only asks Tim not to lie to Pai anymore.

U respectfully lies on the floor next to North’s bed, but they both find Tim’s place too creepy to sleep even 5 feet apart. Together in bed, U explains he learned about Tim only after he met North.

North suggests this is a good time for U to run, but U wants to stay and take responsibility.

Awww, cuddling. I am glad that we have one couple doing OK.

Tim brings Pai a blanket, but isn’t allowed inside

He spends the night in the hallway, while Pai reads a Catherine Coulter novel.

The next morning, a gecko frightens Pai into Tim’s arms. Later, U helps Tim by telling Pai there are a lot of geckos at his place, so he should move in with them. It works.

Pai learns that North and U are a thing again. When Pai leaves, U asks North if they can start over. North will, as long as he doesn’t lie, no matter what it’s about. U promises.

North jumps into his arms and kisses him!

Tim shows Pai to his room, and Pai learns he ended up at the hospital but came back to try and help. Later, Pai can’t sleep. He wanders into the room with Tim’s whiteboard of development plans and pictures of them. Tim finds him and tells him he really did study architecture.

Pai wants to know what he lied about, and Tim says he’s not polite, calm, and gentlemanly. But he let his real self slip out when he fell in love with Pai.

Pai doesn’t believe Tim loves him. Tim says he does, he knows he was wrong, and apologizes. Pai slaps him. Just because he’s here doesn’t mean he forgives Tim.

Tim won’t give up, and lies about geckos to get Pai in his arms. He kisses him on the cheek, and we get some kiss-wrestling.

It’s cute, but Pai still wants a divorce

I don’t blame him. But Tim isn’t going to give him one.

Meanwhile, Tim has to pay the Sugar Mommas back. Lawyer friend scolds him for screwing up this way, but Tim explains he needed their money for the monthly debt payment. Only now, he’s completely broke except for his house and car.

Pai is thrilled North still has the bakery. Immediately, he has them hire him and implement changes. It works, and the place gets busy.

Tim offers to work for them for free before his “new job,” and an exhausted North wants his help. Pai won’t ask about this new job, and still wants nothing from Tim. But he’s hired.

The Bakery is doing so well that they have a potential big client, but they don’t have the money to scale up their supply for it.

They need exactly the amount U’s Mom stole from him

So U goes to her to try to appeal to some kind of maternal instinct or humanity. She tells him to dump North now that he’s broke. Or he can call the cops on her.

At the bakery, North suggests Tim join the “my boyfriend used to be a conman” club, tee hee. Pai wants to know how North trusts U. North points out that he’s no use to him now, but he’s still here.

Pai wants to know if he’s mad, but North says he can’t stay mad forever.

Tim convinces Pai to let him massage his shoulders, but Kuea shows up and ruins it. Away from Tim, he returns the title deed for the land they were working on. Now, Pai wants dinner with Tim.

Uh oh, while North is alone at the bakery, U’s mom shows up.

Tim takes Pai to a nice restaurant using money from a loan on his car. This does not please Pai. He wants a divorce from Tim because their finances are bound together. Yes, Kuea suggested this, but Pai would want it anyway, because he doesn’t know the man he married. Ugh, poor Pai.

Tim agrees, because of the money, but wants this last meal together.

When U finds out that his mother visited North, he panics

North doesn’t even know what she wanted because she talked in circles. He suggests that U let her go, be with people who love him, and hope she doesn’t hurt him again. He gives U a big hug.

Pai drinks and wants to know if he was an easy target. Tim explains how he got him to have fun and let his guard down. Tim is his real name. He let it slip when they first met because it was so magical, it didn’t feel like a scam. It felt real.

But playing someone perfect for Pai was hard. That person can’t exist. He’s too good to be true.

Poor Pai wants to meet him one more time, so Tim pretends to be him. After laughing, Pai asks him to close his eyes. He stands behind him, holding him lightly, and cries. Tim rubs his hand and cries, too. My heart breaks.

The next day, U finds his mom running another scam, and tells her he called the cops on her. He wants to be with someone who loves him and needs to protect that person from her. She runs.

The whole gang is going to Tim and Pai’s divorce, but Tim slips and gets knocked out. Back to the hospital for the third time!

Despite everything, Pai worries over him, but also checks that it’s not a ruse. Then he’s upset Tim didn’t clean the slippery spot on the floor, and calls him baby.

Tim notices. He kisses Pai’s hand, and Pai doesn’t pull away for once.

Pai’s sadness is SO MUCH MORE PAINFUL than his anger

Like Tim, I was expecting Pai to go nuclear, but it’s much more heartwrenching to see him… defeated. After feeling so exhausted and burdened by his family, the person he thought was in his corner is a stranger. Ugh.

Yet, he protects this stranger-Tim from his family because of whatever feelings are still there. Poor, poor, poor Pai.

IRL, Tim is absolutely horrible and should be sued and arrested. Played by Junior, I want him to get his man. I even like the slightly sharper-edged, REAL Tim, more than gentleman-Tim. He seems like he could take even better care of Pai.

I feel off my game for not foreseeing that Pai and North would be disowned. This is a huge help to U and Tim, allowing them to prove it’s not about the money.

Even if Pai isn’t interested, *I* want to know about Tim’s new job. I hope he legitimately makes money, pays his debt, and can prove he doesn’t need Pai’s money. Sign a pre-nup, Tim!

Pai will never need Tim’s money, because Pai is amazing. Even heartbroken and broke, he’s getting back on his feet. Tim deserves every mean thing Pai says/does to him, but I’m glad he’s still sticking by Pai’s side. That is what Pai needs the most.

I want it revealed in the end that Pai’s secretary was also a scammer. I can’t think of how it would benefit the story, but it amuses me.
