When we last left our Tired Nour and Eager Investigator, they were kissing. The bloody lip may have had something to do with it.
While kissing, Ken flashes back to their initial laundromat meeting
He pulls away and leaves. James watches and smiles. Uh-oh.
Ken avoids James but thinks about him while drinking refrigerated blood with no shirt on. And he’s back to wanting James off the case. Upset, James accuses Ken of being the one afraid of crossing the line.
The tape down the center of the room symbolically has a little tear in it.
James is so defeated he tells Ken about his welcome party, but that he doesn’t have to come.
Tangme, the cop James saved, is shipping them HARD, though. She shows Ken a video of drunk James at his party and talks about his positive effect on the station. And Ken.
Thank you, Tangme. Your work is appreciated.
Ken tells himself the line was about to break anyway
At the party, adorable, drunk James gives Ken a BIG hug. Ken drinks without getting drunk and stops James from giving his contact info to a strange woman.
What James REALLY wants is for Ken to sign up for a messenger app. And drunk skinship.
Chita and Ji are playing their own version of the yearning/rejecting game. Chita nearly hurts himself falling asleep while practicing stitches, but Ji catches him. Then he gets real close to help Chita with his stitches.
Ji likes Chita’s name, which means bright, while Ji’s full name means long night. Chita thinks their names should be switched, and Ji is the bright part of his life.
Later, Chita sees a woman taking a blood bag. She aggressively grabs his arm and threatens to have him fired if he tells anyone.
Ken walks with a drunk, babbling James who just wants to talk about Ken. Eventually, we get some staaaaaaaaaaaaaring. James touches Ken’s face and…. Squeezes his cheeks.
But after all this, Ken makes that messenger account so James can send him stickers. James finally passes out, and Ken bridal-carries him to sleep it off on the couch in their office.
And we have a new burned body!
At the scene, James is being touchy and promises to protect Ken. Ken is being Ken. Tangme and I are eating this up.
James finds a cell phone and has a James vision at the crime scene.
Chita called in sick, so Ji tracks him down to his strange hotel-room-like place with dramatic decor. Chita isn’t wearing much, and Ji gives him a traditional BL wipe-down that goes… high up the leg.
Then their faces get close. Chita goes for the kiss, twice. Then he apologizes and tells Ji how much he means to him. Ji tells him to recover, and he’ll see him at the hospital. Coward.
Chita looks So Sad.
Later, James is trying to access that phone when all the lights in the station go off. Someone takes the phone. Ken shows up, and James tells him he thinks it’s a Nour.
They split up to try and trap the shadowy figure. When Ken finds it, he asks if it’s the Nour who can kill other Nour. Oh. I see.
The figure answers by slashing his face. James shoots, but they get away. When James reaches Ken, he’s uninjured. And he got the phone back.
Now that Ken trusts James again, he brings up their laundromat meeting
James doesn’t remember it at first. He wants to know if he can cross the line now and learn more about Ken.
But Ken isn’t sharing.
James promises not to hide anything from Ken anymore. He wants Ken to promise the same. Uh-oh. But he goes in for the kiss, and Ken lets him. Kissssssssssssssing.
Until Ji calls and they have to go see him. Based on a tattoo, he’s identified the burned body as Tee. Ken thinks they need stronger proof.
Ken leaves, and James mentions Nour to Ji. Ji says he doesn’t believe in them. In a suspicious way.
Turns out that medical intern Chita saw taking a blood bag, got kidnapped. Prae escaped, but didn’t see her attacker. She also has a burn on her arm she claims is from cooking for Tee, her boyfriend.
Except, a teaser at the beginning of the episode showed her arm on fire as she ran from a car.
They tell her they may have found Tee, dead. She’s sad at first but surprisingly cold later, asking about Tee’s phone. They tell her nothing.
Poor Chita wants to know if the kiss meant anything to Ji
Ji is silent. Noooo! Chita, you are so strong.
They’re turning off the lights, and the darkness makes Chita nervous. We see a flash of Nour running by.
It’s Valentine’s, and James’s gift to Ken is Tee’s dental records, to confirm against the corpse. He also gives Ken a little plush toy, and Ken secretly smiles over it.
The dental records match. It’s Tee. Right?
Sweet, persistent Chita has a Valentine’s boxed lunch for Ji. He pulls Ji away from women putting heart stickers on his shirt, but then Ken and James interrupt about the dental work.
Later, Prae is brought in to identify the charcoal that is her boyfriend. Somehow, she confirms it’s him. James stares at her, and I think he can’t read anything, like with Ken. Maybe.
Ken’s Valentine for James is the case file he wanted, so sweet. And… something else?
One of Mint and Tee’s friends, Nin, is Ji’s younger brother
He’s heard his older brother is dating someone, and wants him to pick more carefully this time. Interesting.
Nin also has a friend who is clearly interested in him enough to regift him chocolates and flirt with him on playground equipment.
At the station, James learns Tee’s teeth match marks on Mint’s body. So, there may be two Nour. Tee, and the unknown one is the real killer.
Not satisfied with only discussing romance over corpses, our guys chat about it at Tee’s funeral. There’s a real love/death thing with this show. James tells Ji life is short, you should tell someone if you like them. Meaning, tell Chita already.
Ken finds Prae and offers her condolences. She must have thought Nour wouldn’t die. Prae claims she didn’t know Tee was Nour. Ken says if you loved someone, you’d do anything to be with them longer, including becoming a Nour to be with them forever.
Prae wanted to stay with him, but she’s not a Nour. Losing him is already hard enough, or has Ken never lost someone he loved?
Now Ken is thinking about James.
Chita has had enough
He tells Ji that if he doesn’t feel anything for him but keeps treating him so kindly, it’s cruel. So Ji apologizes for not getting him a Valentine’s gift, and asks him to cook for him, and only him, again sometime.
And how could he feel nothing when Chita kissed him that way? Awww. Forehead kiss.
It’s really sweet, except SOMEONE IS WATCHING.
Meanwhile, James is off the case and being sent back to Bangkok. He quickly realizes Ken is responsible. Ken tries to drive away from the problem, but James chases after him.
Poor James is crying and desperate to stay by Ken’s side any way he can. He knows Ken feels something for him. We see James’s vision of Ken, but I still don’t know how to read James’s vision.
Ken claims he doesn’t feel that way about James, but James says he’s lying. Ken is just afraid to like him more. James goes full drama, pulling his shirt off and refusing to leave until Ken stops pretending he has no feelings.
He goes in for a kiss. Ken shoves him away, and there’s blood on Ken’s lips. James goes in again for a kiss, not letting Ken push him, but… Ken’s not pushing anymore. He’s moving to the back seat.
James’s lip is bloody, and Ken wants some of that blood and more kissing.
And in James’s vision… Is he seeing colors in Ken now? And James backs off
I love both of them, but I’m really curious about James
The frantic way he pursued Ken in the end was SO intense. Is there more to it? With this show, it could be anything from personality to something special between him and Ken. Past lives. Nour stuff. Fate. They better tell us.
Ken is making it SO hard on the poor guy, and I LOVE IT. I’m such a sucker for one person giving it their all with a repressed, fearful, resistant partner. Don’t try this at home, but in fiction…
I assume pushing James away is tied to his death wish. But what has him wanting to die so much? Is it just the existential angst of not dying, or did something happen? Hoping for the latter.
I can’t help but be worried for James when he learns about Ken’s death wish. And stressed because I ALSO wouldn’t want Ken to die.
There is a lot going on with fire. Chita’s injury looks like it’s from a burn. Prae has that burn she lied about. James’ dad died in a fire. All the burned corpses. The first death Ken talked about was burning.
So, what’s it all about then?
Chita definitely has secrets. They made so much of identifying Tee’s corpse that I’m not convinced it is his corpse. Who is Ji’s ex? This show is really good at raising questions and teasing us by not giving too many answers at once.
And now I’M nearly James-level desperate for those answers.
