Pre-Recap Information:
You know I show up for BL with interesting time/supernatural aspects. (My Stand-In, someday I will get to you, I promise.) So here I am.
While this show falls into the “timey-wimey” category, within that category, there are smaller categories. This show does not have the same time mechanics as 4Minutes, where the time dynamics are part of the larger mystery.
Here, so far at least, it’s straightforward. Man dies after betrayal by those that he loves, and suddenly he’s in his body 26 years ago. It’s a chance to, well, reset. And get revenge.
This is similar to two shows I’ve watched, Marry My Husband and Perfect Marriage Revenge, and I think it’s the basic setup for these kinds of stories. (Although, now I’m curious if there’s one that starts with the character living their best life before dying and being stuck trying to reproduce their happiness? There must be, right?)
Anyway, after watching 2 episodes, the main difference I see between this show and the other two is that this is more mystery than thriller.
Armin knows he’s been betrayed, but isn’t sure to what extent. He knows he’s in the past, but is full of questions as to why. He’s not immediately on a clear-cut quest for revenge, which makes this show more similar to 4Minutes. For now, he’s just trying to figure out what’s going on.
While I do love revenge, and hope that’s part of the story, I also like a good mystery. I think being profoundly confused to find yourself back in the past is a reasonable reaction to the situation. I think I’m going to enjoy watching Armin figuring things out. And making my own wild guesses about what’s happening.
