The Heart Killers – Episode 3-4 – Recap and Review

When last we left our taming of the shrew quartet, our hitmen were not easily seduced.

We meet the hitmen’s “mother”

Her hairstyle screams “evil” and so does her ordering them to kill someone. Bison asks for a break after the job. She suspects he’s seeing someone and strokes his head, telling him not to quit evilly.

Kant follows Bison to the spa for romantic time. Kant has a Taming of the Shrew quote on his back, “If I be waspish, best beware my sting”. Bison admits that he’d get back at anyone who hurt him, and bites Kant as an example.

Kant and Captain Christ meet in the sauna so the Captain can order Kant to sneak inside Bison’s home.

Harassing Fadel is working

Style follows him to a tame black metal concert, his morning exercise (“Good morning!”), and restaurant supply shopping. Then he puts on a hamburger costume to lure customers. Fadel tries to rip the outfit off him, not in a romantic way, and falls on top of him, in a kinda romantic way.

Style insists on helping Fadel with the customers, and Fadel is hit with lust as he changes into the uniform. Style says he thinks Fadel is hiding something and doesn’t see how close he gets to death by spatula. He saves his own life by guessing “police informant”.

Kant and Bison establish a safe word

Bison stops by Kant’s tattoo studio for secret time together. Kant wants to talk romance and make out but gets bitten again. Bison is into S & M, particularly the S part.

Kant tries to act like he’s into it but looks scared. They decide on “Penguin” for their safe word and Bison applies clothespins to Kant’s nipples and kisses him. Bison looks excited. Kant looks excited when Bison looks at him, and pained when he’s not.

Fadel finds them and sends Bison away. He threatens Kant with his tattoo needle thing, dropping it on his crotch.

Fadel strips for the job

In water even.

They need information from a secretary who has a taste for young men. By coincidence, Style is there for work and gets to see the show. He also sees Fadel fight random guys in a lame action sequence.

Poor sad Fadel, he can’t even enjoy his grief group without Style appearing. In a Laker’s crop top. It’s the last straw and Fadel drags Style to an empty room to give him the sex he wants. Then he knees him in the stomach and leaves him.

Kant does restaurant work to get Fadel to let him take Bison to a bar. There he gets Bison drunk, poisons him, and takes him home. But then he ends up tied to Bison’s bed, slapped, blindfolded, and beaten with a whip.

Fadel is busy somewhere digging a grave. How very Fadel.

Kant is saved from more M when Bison collapses

But Fadel stops him before he can search the house. He still gets out with… a USB key? Later, Fadel tells Bison that Kant has been hiding his past as a car thief, and never going to jail.

Style has a wet dream about Fadel followed by breakfast with his music-hating-but-otherwise-nice Dad. He’s not stalking Fadel today because he’s playing hard to get.

It’s working. Fadel asks the meat lady about Style. Style shows up at the burger place, but Fadel won’t admit he missed him. Nor will he have sex with him in the kitchen, though it gets close. Style warns he isn’t backing down.

Bison is going to “take care” of Kant

He’s got a knife but only asks why he kept his car thievery past a secret. Kant says he only did it to support his brother, Babe, and isn’t proud.

Babe returns early with a bruise on his arm. Kant and Bison go to school and find the bully classmates and the pedophile teacher encouraging them. They confront the teacher and have an okay fight scene in the bathroom, at least it has props.

Bison is impressed with Kant’s love for his brother, but Kant thinks Fadel would do the same. Bison reassures him Fadel wouldn’t need to because he can take care of himself.

All this inspires Bison to let Kant be his boyfriend, once Kant promises he isn’t hiding anything else. Kant laughs and makes a Fast and Furious joke. The movie references in this show are plentiful.

In the shower, Kant thinks about how he’s using Bison to take care of Babe.

Style tells the grief group he was nailed and bailed

The group is sweetly sympathetic, but Fadel drags Style off and drives him to the middle of nowhere. It looks like he might kill him in an abandoned building, but instead, he gives a kind of confession about how annoyed he is with Style for changing his life and making him miss him.

Fadel is so cute that Style has to kiss him and they have abandoned building sex. We don’t see much. After, Style confesses his feelings. Fadel feels he doesn’t know him but Style says he’ll learn about him if he’s his boyfriend.

Fadel agrees to be his boyfriend. Style gives him lots of kisses.

He reports his success to Kant, who has something to tell him.

Fadel and Bison share the recent changes in their lives

Dressed as firefighters for hitmen work, they learn they’re both in relationships. Fadel does not approve nor does he admit to feelings for Style.

Then they discover shocking proof their target is behind their parent’s deaths. Despite Fadel being suspicious of everything, they accept this amazing discovery with no questions.

Meanwhile, Style is upset to learn his new boyfriend is a hitman. And Kant never told him. Kant convinces him to work with him until the brothers are in jail. But Style is nervous around Fadel now.

And Kant’s ex shows up to get handsy and annoying. Bison sees it, and Kant tries to reassure Bison. But Bison warns Kant that if he flirts with others he might become a burger.

Dating hitmen turns out to be complicated and dangerous

And I still don’t know what Kant thinks about Bison. The difference in their attitude about S&M is not a great sign for their relationship. Bison’s help with Babe moved him, but except for 30 seconds of worry in the shower, Kant comes off as okay with handing him to the cops.

Bison is falling for Kant, but that’s not Kant being his honest self, so it’s not real. Poor Bison thinks he’s found the M to his S.

It would be more convincing if Kant showed any interest in the S & M, even secretly. Like Bison was helping him discover a new part of himself. It would make the show actually edgy too.

Style and Fadel feel genuinely into each other. Style is turned on by the brooding, dark mystery that is Fadel. Fadel is turned on by Style’s crop tops and tenacity. The hitman thing and lies are an issue, but no one is faking their personality.

Despite my issues with Kant and Bison, I like the relationship arcs. The closer Kant and Style get to the hitmen, the more danger they are in, not from heartbreak but death. At the same time, their feelings for these dangerous men are growing. It’s more than the usual fall kisses.

And here are the fashion stand-outs:
