When we last left our Immune Target and His Hunter, A Lie kidnapped Lin Zai!

Lin Zai wakes up and starts struggling
A Lie puts him down and makes him promise to be quiet because there are zombies nearby, then removes the tape covering his mouth. Lin Zai is immediately Not Quiet. For the next two episodes.
But it never attracts zombies, so whatever.
Anyway, Lin Zai is VERY reasonably upset and Would Like Answers. A Lie explains he was looking for someone immune to zombies. He knows about the bite mark on Lin Zai’s arm, and his watch can identify immune people.
Lin Zai wonders if that’s the only reason he saved him, and why he didn’t just kidnap him then. But A Lie needed his foot to heal first.
Poor Lin Zai. He is Disappointed in A Lie. And himself for trusting him.

He convinces A Lie to untie his hands, then makes a run for it
A Lie easily chases him down, tackles him, and ties his hands together again. Then he ties Lin Zai to him, pulling him behind him.
Lin Zai tries to find out who A Lie is working for, or anything else about him. But A Lie is not talking. He does, however, help Lin Zai pee with his hands tied.
In the spirit of Not Obeying A Lie, Lin Zai refuses to eat his rations and grabs a random fruit from a tree to eat instead. Almost immediately, he has an allergic reaction. A Lie takes care of him, and when he moves away, Lin Zai grabs him and apologizes. He cries, asks him not to leave, leans against him, and passes out.
Lin Zai is a precious baby angel who needs to be protected. A Lie You Monster.
So, Lin Zai gets a piggyback ride. Despite his harsh words, A Lie is gentle when he wipes Lin Zai down and blows on his rashes. He’s also brought Lin Zai’s brother’s good luck charm.

Eventually, they arrive at a town inhabited by zombies
A Lie is looking for medication for Lin Zai. As a diversion for the zombies, he uses the dancing cactus! Yes!
But he struggles to stay quiet with Lin Zai on his back, and steps on something, catching the zombies’ attention. He runs and, with help from the editing, makes it into the pharmacy. There he uses a fancy smoking liquid that makes the zombies leave.
He gives Lin Zai some medication and water. Judging by A Lie’s chapped lips, he’s been giving Lin Zai most of the water. Then, he ties Lin Zai’s wrist to his and dozes off.
Lin Zai wakes up and panics when he doesn’t immediately see A Lie. He spots him, calms down, then reaches for the water bottle. A Lie wakes up and grabs him, thinking he was trying to escape.

And he’s VERY upset with Lin Zai for slowing his kidnapping down
Lin Zai didn’t know he’d have an allergic reaction. Also, he’s the victim?
But A Lie warns Lin Zai he only needs to deliver him alive. He doesn’t want to be forced to use methods on Lin Zai that he only uses on others.
Never mind that, a HUGE zombie has made it into the building. It’s a Class A mutated zombie, extra big and hard to kill.
Lin Zai is quiet for once, as they stand VERY close in their hiding spot. There’s staaaaaaaaaaaaaring. Although the zombie kills the mood.
The zombie wanders away, and they head out. A Lie ties up Lin Zai’s hands to keep him from poisoning himself again. For dinner, A Lie shoots a rabbit to cook and hand-feed to Lin Zai. Lin Zai resists, and A Lie threatens him again, but unties him enough to feed himself.

Next is a romantic rainy night together in an abandoned building
Neither is sleeping. A Lie makes room for Lin Zai next to him on an… old car bench seat? But it isn’t until A Lie gets closer that Lin Zai falls asleep. On A Lie’s shoulder.
While Lin Zai’s sleeping, A Lie unties his wrists and sees a rope burn. Then he nods off too, and they kinda side-snuggle.
When Lin Zai wakes up, he immediately moves away from A Lie and notices he’s untied. A Lie figures he can’t get away anyway.
Lin Zai worries about what’s next and if he’ll be killed. A Lie admits he’s the first immune person he’s discovered. He doesn’t know what happens next. Lin Zai wonders if he even cares.
A Lie wants him to focus on living long enough to get to that point. But he asks his watch about what’ll happen to Lin Zai. It says he doesn’t have clearance to know.
Out in the woods, they come across another zombie. A Lie shoots, only to discover it was Not A Zombie. It’s a guy, disguised as a zombie while he goes hunting. How… does that work?
Lin Zai is Lin Zai, and takes the blame for shooting him, then pushes a reluctant A Lie to help him. But as they support this random stranger, he looks… sneaky…

Lin Zai deserves a Gold Medal in Kindness
If anything, he’s being too easy on A Lie. He hasn’t pushed A Lie THAT hard, so A Lie hasn’t had to prove if he’ll follow through on his threats.
Or maybe he has pushed A Lie hard enough? And we’re seeing that the most he can do is tie Lin Zai up and make threats.
Regardless, Lin Zai seems to take comfort in A Lie’s presence. It could be that he’s just being terrified of being alone. I’d be curious to get a little more backstory on Lin Zai. What happened after his brother died? Was he alone for a while?
But this is a romance, so I’ll assume that it’s specifically A Lie that he finds comfort in.
And now he’s about to get them into trouble helping Some Guy. Not that I feel too bad for A Lie. He deserves to suffer more for what he’s doing to our Precious Lin Zai.
Finally, RIP Dancing Cactus. Your Arc Was Short But Meaningful.
