The Prosecutor’s Proposal – Episode 5-6 – Recap and Review

When last we left our Prosecutor and his new Investigator, they had lightly kinky sex.

Taeseon wakes up first the next morning

He sees Chaeha’s Uncle calling him, turns off Chaeha’s phone, and carefully leaves.

At work, Taeseon asks Prosecutor Yoon to look into Chaeha’s Uncle as a favor, because he messed with someone important to him. Meaning Chaeha. MY HEART.

After waking up late and getting scolded, Chaeha wastes time fondling Taeseon’s blue thimble and remembering the previous night. He’s got it bad.

Mr Song and Chaeha meet to investigate further at the scene where the husband was stabbed to death. The kid shows up to steal evidence and tells Chaeha they’re flying far away. Mom follows and is agitated to see Chaeha and Song.

After she leaves, Song reveals that he found an insurance policy. Mom killed Dad for money.

At work, that nice Director Tak wants to meet Chaeha

Taeseon compliments Chaeha’s work. MY HEART. Director Tak tells Chaeha that Taeseon is like a son to him.

After Tak leaves, Song spills water all over Chaeha. While Song gets a mop, Taeseon helps Chaeha unbutton his shirt. He asks how Chaeha wants to handle “it”, and Chaeha says the sex was a drunken mistake.

Taeseon was asking about work. Oops. Also, Taeseon doesn’t make mistakes. He suggests they be sex partners, and mocks Chaeha for maybe thinking he’d fall for him.

Chaeha gets to wear Taeseon’s shirt though, and Taeseon even buttons the cuffs for him.

Suddenly, they’re at some outdoor location

I guess they got a tip that the Mom would come here because the real murder weapon is here?

They banter about Chaeha’s traumatic past, but more importantly, Taeseon grabs Chaeha’s butt and teases him about his stamina. Then Taeseon suggests Chaeha is cold and wraps him in his arms and coat.

They hide in the shed to wait for the Mom. Chaeha keeps knocking things over so Taeseon can protect him and get close. Close enough to stick his thumb in Chaeha’s mouth, and then his own!

Taeseon would like sex again, but first, the Mom is there! She digs up the murder weapon and puts it against her own throat!

Our guys run out, and Taeseon and her grapple for the knife. She breaks free, and he freezes as she goes after him.

Chaeha steps between the two of them, taking a knife to the side

He’s okay, but Taeseon yells at him and declares that he’s the only one who can hurt Chaeha. Sexy.

Alone at home alone, Chaeha calls Taeseon a psycho. Then wonders if he’s a pervert. Yes, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Jahyeon’s drug tests came back positive! But since Mr Kim was cremated, they can’t compare it to the drugs in his system. Also, an old man is there to turn himself in over Mr Kim’s murder.

Chaeha has a one-track mind and thinks Taeseon is taking him to a motel for sex. But it’s a hotel where Mr Kim checked in but never stayed, near the casino. In Kim’s room, Chaeha falls from a chair into Taeseon’s arms, and also finds a hidden stash of drugs.

At dinner, Taeseon has slowed his eating to Chaeha’s pace

But he won’t admit it. He gets annoyed when Mr Song texts Chaeha and makes them leave RIGHT THEN. So Chaeha still didn’t get to finish eating.

Chaeha’s Uncle is waiting at the office to beg and whine about being investigated. Taeseon stops him from hitting Chaeha, tells him to leave his investigator alone, and pulls Chaeha to his side. My Heart.

Later, Chaeha remembers Taeseon wanting to be the only one to hurt him.

Chaeha tells Taeseon that Jahyeon’s drug tests match the drugs in the hotel, but he left the door open. Taeseon scolds him. Also, a phone registered to a Russian pinged a tower nearby. I think.

Chaeha asks if Taeseon is involved in his Uncle being investigated

Since Taeseon was good friends with Prosecutor Yoon’s sister, the deceased Soyeon. Taeseon is Taeseon and denies it.

But Taeseon brings their case against Jahyeon to Yoon, so he can handle the arrest and get credit. This is Taeseon returning the favor.

Director Tak shows up, and Yoon quickly hides the paperwork. But Taeseon tells Tak everything. Tak worries about personal feelings and Chaeha being involved, and wants them to be careful.

Chaeha and Taeseon visit Jahyeon’s older sister and CEO of Ohsong Group, Miyeon. She tells them that her sister got pregnant by a long-term boyfriend in her 20s, and their father forced her to have an abortion. Their father hated this guy because there was a rumor that he killed his own sister.

When this all went down, Jahyeon went after their father with a knife. So. Maybe she can kill someone. But eventually she broke up with the guy rather than be disinherited.

Chaeha gets a call with a name for DNA found on the glove near Mr Kim’s body at the same time as Miyeon tells Taeseon the name of the boyfriend. It’s the same name. Tak.

This mystery revolves around someone barely on screen

And up to this point, we’ve only met Jahyeon on screen once. Well, twice with that CCTV footage. So even though she’s an important part of the story, it feels like she isn’t because we never see her. This is hard on my brain.

We’re also sticking to the modern murders, not Woosung’s. But I know that Jahyeon and Ohsong Group will be involved with the past, because this show is short, and Woosung was involved with the Casino and Ohsong Group.

I’m not sure if/how the Mom killing her husband will tie together, or if it’s just illustrating murder weapons being switched. Same goes for that other historic case with the woman stabbed with an awl that Chaeha brought up. The woman was a doctor, though, wasn’t she?

It’s a lot to track in 20-minute episodes, and I know I’ve gotten lost once or twice.

But I think they’ve got it just right, because they need to keep that stuff short so we get alllllll the great moments of Chaeha and Taeseon being obsessed with each other. What’s the point of a mystery if people aren’t falling in love at the same time?
