Wandee Goodday- Episode 5-6 – Recap and Review

When last we left our doctor-boxer duo, they were wearing animal ears and being the most supportive fake boyfriends ever. In the next two episodes, there are more animal ears.

Other stuff happens too, but it’s a lot of animal ears

Like Yoyak helping cheer up Wandee’s young patient. Wandee helpfully explains to the mother that children like getting gifts, she smiles politely.

After some silliness about Wandee’s memory of birth dates, they go for coffee. Yoyak is worried about his shoulder and now I’m worried about Yoyak’s shoulder. Wandee says it’ll be okay, but will it? Earning money for the gym also comes up, so that is a thing.

We’re not done with the animal ears yet either. Kao takes a conveniently empty third seat to talk about their sex life in public. He wants feedback on the outfits. Yoyak wants a longer tail.

The couple eagerly goes home to put on their animal ears again. They discuss how Yoyak is going to romance Taem. Wandee can’t get through a discussion of Yoyak’s crush without staring romantically into Yoyak’s eyes.

Wandee’s Grandma is the Coolest Grandma

She walks in on Wandee and Yoyak in boxers and animal ears and is chill. They lie about why Yoyak is there, only for Wandee to tell her the truth later. They have a sweet grandmother-grandson moment while holding a giant stuffed… male member. This is when the show is most charming.

Grandma doesn’t judge and wants to know Wandee’s feelings. Best Grandma On A Drama Ever.

Grandma sleeps over so Yoyak is on the couch. Wandee worries about him and checks on him. There’s sweet cuddling. Then Yoyak ruins it by bringing up Taem. No Yoyak, no.

Grandma can’t sleep so they drink wine and play guitar together. Wandee puts Yoyak’s bunny-sex-ears on her which… I don’t know about that.

The Popularity Scholarship Contest now also involves animal outfits

Dr Crush is working the media and the hospital staff, but Wandee has Yoyak! How are they going to get more votes? By dressing in bunny and tiger outfits and performing a story for sick children. (It’s not their sex play ones but I still feel… weird. Dr Kao watching and clapping doesn’t help.) But the children are happy and a great time is had by all.

Rather than hanging out with Taem afterward, Yoyak goes to Wandee’s. Because he wants to talk about banana sizes and throw flour at him. This is not the most convincingly written crush.

They end the night by standing in their boxers on the balcony, drinking wine, and looking out at the city. The music gets too romantic for Yoyak. Then Yoyak brushing dust out of Wandee’s eyes gets too romantic for Wandee. They nearly kiss but a cooking alarm interferes.

But these guys are basically married anyway

Yoyak is going out of town for training so Wandee gets up early to have breakfast together. Yoyak is going to work on his weakness, which is running out of energy before his opponent. I don’t think he has the same problem with Wandee.

They toast to Yoyak’s boxing success and are the most supportive not-boyfriends. Afterward, they bet on who will show they miss the other first, giving me a Bad Buddy flashback.

While Yoyak is gone, Wandee stares longingly at his drying clothes on the balcony and remembers him deliberately getting toothpaste all over the mirror. Ew.

Meanwhile, Yoyak talks with Yei about Taem versus Wandee. His brother asks him who he thinks about first when he closes his eyes. Yoyak goes outside, closes his eyes, and hears Wandee. Because he’s there, visiting. In Yoyak’s pants. Mainly to bicker about who misses who.

Dr. Crush Strikes Again

Evil-not-evil bonsai spraying boss wants to send Wandee and Dr Crush to Japan for work. Dr Crush agrees for both of them and Wandee is not happy.

Kao helpfully points out they’re going to a romantic city and sharing a room. Wandee envisions the romance but imaginary Dr Crush doesn’t get to kiss him on the lips either.

Real Dr Crush is back in manipulation mode. He extends their trip without asking so they can have quality time at Tokyo Tower. Wandee uses the old “I need an HPV vaccination” excuse to flee when Dr Crush gets a little close.

Yoyak goes straight from training to Wandee. But he’s also meeting Taem at the hospital. Kao suggests Wandee reconsider Dr Crush because maybe he’s realized his feelings. No Kao, no. I liked Kao more when he was handing out animal ears.

Meanwhile, Yoyak wipes stuff out of Taem’s eye. It’s what Yoyak does.

Taem later asks Yoyak about his relationship with Wandee. I don’t understand the rules behind who does and doesn’t know about Yoyak and Wandee’s relationship. Grandma, yes. Taem, no. Wandee lies to her to make things easier on Yoyak.

The editing gets weird

Cher and Yei are having sex while Yoyak and Wandee are also having sex. We get to see both at the same time with intercutting. Why show why?

Then post sex Wandee has a sudden flashback to telling Kao about feeling guilty towards Taem. Kao thinks it’s because he loves Yoyak. But Wandee is confused about his feelings for Dr Crush. Kao says Wandee needs to “prove” his feelings. Yes, thank you Kao.

Yoyak wants to know what roles they’re taking for sex, which is strange since they’ve always been a bunny and a tiger. Wandee wants them to be themselves. Aw. That was weird but went somewhere nice.

The intercutting continues as Wandee, Yoyak, Yei, and Cher go on a trip together. The trip is Yoyak’s idea, but Cher tells Wandee that Yoyak is worried about Yei and him.

What’s going on with our second couple?

Probably the money problems. Earlier, Yei was neglecting Cher so Cher acted bratty and followed him. Yei apologized and made excuses and Cher accepted it. On this trip, Yei turns around fast when he sees some debt collectors. Cher doesn’t catch on though, and is overwhelmed with gratitude when Yei gives him balloons. Poor Cher, does Yei never get him gifts?

Back to our main couple

Wandee gets anxious at an intersection and Yoyak takes his hand. They wander around being cute together. Wandee starts thinking maybe Bangkok is the city of romance after all.

Kao’s text interrupts them enjoying the city together to ask how Wandee’s doing at figuring out his feelings. Go away Kao, you’re not helping this episode. Yoyak forces Wandee to take his hand and run. Wandee VOs that he doesn’t know his true feelings, but he feels most at ease with Yoyak.

I guess we’re going to keep going with the crush thing

I like that Wandee is confused and torn, but I wish Dr Crush were written better so it would be more justified. He’s never been anything except unappealing.

Taem is likable but Yoyak doesn’t act interested in her, he just says he is. I could believe he’s holding onto old feelings, but it’s vague and unclear. What does Taem mean to him? Does he have a fantasy of a relationship with her he needs to let go? The show should tell us.

On the other hand, it is fun to see our guys’ different approaches. Wandee feels more emotionally aware but cowardly. Yoyak is straightforward and brave but clueless. I feel like if Yoyak knew he liked Wandee, he’d confess regardless of Dr Crush. I’m not sure Wandee would do the same.

I liked that Wandee wanted to stop doing the play-acting with the animal ears. It’s a step towards being honest with themselves and each other. But we’re only at the midpoint and it feels like time for a change-up. Will Dr Crush woo Wandee? (I hope not.) Will someone realize their true feelings? (I hope so.)
