When it rains, it pours – Recap and Review

4 out of 7 episodes recapped.

A 2025 Japanese BL about two men desperate for sex who start a relationship over email, not realizing they work together.

You can watch the trailer here.

Country: Japan
Local Title: ふったらどしゃぶり
Year Released: 2025
Number of Episodes: 7
Genre: Workplace BL

Main Actors:

Ito Asahi as Nakarai Sei
Muto Jun as Hagiwara Kazuaki

Pre-Recap Information:

Hagiwara and Nakarai aren’t getting any sex despite being in relationships, (although for Nakarai I think that deserves air quotes). As a result of not getting any sex, it’s constantly on their minds. Like the rain that pours endlessly during the rainy season, they can’t escape their horniness.

Then Hagiwara accidentally emails a stranger, not knowing it’s Nakarai, something completely insignificant. For most people, it would end there, but these are two people living lives of very quiet desperation. Given the chance to talk to someone, anyone, they seize it. Given the anonymity, they start to feel free to express themselves in ways they can’t in their day-to-day lives.

I’m a fan of a good un-sexy story about sex. There’s something about a story that tries to be about sex while also being sexy that puts me off. I can’t be alone in this, right?

Plus, there’s the novelty of a Japanese BL that doesn’t involve one person feeding another. (Though clearly I love that trope.)

I’m recapping this as I watch, and only watched the first two episodes before writing this (though this is a fairly short series of 7 episodes).

But I have been aware of the story for some time because it’s based on a light novel popular enough for me to stumble across it. I have a copy in Japanese that I haven’t read, maybe after I watch the series.

Unfortunately, it’s not available in English but since My Beautiful Man is now available in English, maybe we’ll see this one too eventually.
