Welcome to my Saturday blog post, where I give thoughts on dramas I’m watching, whether at the beginning, middle, or end. Whatever I want, because I’m petty that way.
This week, I recapped episodes 5-6 of Interminable. I’m here for the epic ghost-versus-shaman battles.
I also recapped episodes 7-8 of Dare You To Death. At this point, they’ll figure out who the murderers are when everyone else is dead.
What did I watch this week? The shows are showing again. I’ve got initial reviews of two from the opposite ends of some kind of spectrum:

Yesterday – รอยรัก วันวาน – 2026
Currently airing rich-people-behaving-badly BL, I’m at 3 out of 10 episodes.
A confident young investor meets the saddest rich guy ever, falls for him, and eventually ends up trapped in a basement by him.
I’m surprisingly sucked in by the business scheming and puzzle-plot of this very soapy, definitely don’t-try-this-at-home story. It’s that last bit that will probably, fairly, keep people from wanting to watch it.

So, what’s going on?
It’s hard to tell because we’re being given the story out of order.
Basically, we know that, like a year ago, Confident Rich Guy met the Saddest Rich Guy Ever. CRG was considering whether his family conglomerate, rich people business thing (don’t ever read my blog for business advice), should invest in SRGE’s horrible father and brother’s business.
CRG realized the person doing all the work in the family was the beaten-down and abused SRGE. He helped him out a little, slept with him, and told him it was just a one-night stand.
And at some point, a year later, CRG is shackled by his ankle and held prisoner by SRGE.
Between a year ago and now, it seems the two of them have become more involved, both romantically and business-ly. SRGE decided to break free from his horrible family and convinced CRG to support him. He also convinced him to be something more than a one-night stand.
As of the end of episode 3, many puzzle pieces are still missing. The biggest being exactly what blew up between them that led to SRGE deciding to kidnap and imprison CRG. Then, there’s the question of how this will all lead to a happy ending eventually, because this is a BL, so that’s presumably where it’s going.

I’m not a fan of out-of-order storytelling, but I’m hooked
My main complaint about telling things out-of-order to create suspense that wouldn’t exist if told in order is that it separates me from the character’s emotional journey.
In this case, I’m not sure I need to be on an emotional journey with these characters. Neither of them is a great person.
Though CRG is probably the better of the two, having not kidnapped and imprisoned anyone yet, he still has some unlikable, caddish qualities. With so many pieces of the puzzle missing, I’m wondering what has yet to be revealed about him.
SRGE has kidnapped and imprisoned someone. Before that, he showed strong antisocial tendencies and a disconnect from other people. With so many pieces of the puzzle missing, I’m wondering if we’ll learn that he’s more of a victim than is being presented.
At least they exist in a world where everyone is rich, horrible, and happy to sell a family member off for more money. So they’re in good company. The one benefit in this cruel world is that it doesn’t have all the comedy sound effects so prevalent in Thai BL.
I’m also surprised by how well I’ve managed to follow the business aspects. They’ve given just enough information that I know what’s happening, without giving so much information that I lose interest. Mostly, it’s about who is investing in what, and whether they’re profiting.
If you want characters you can relate to and warm, fuzzy feelings, it’s best to give this show a wide berth and quickly walk past. If you were a fan of Revenged Love or ABO Desire, this is worth checking out.
But if you need cute, warm, fuzzy, and are willing to put up with the cringe and comedy sound effects that come with it, check out this show instead:

Duang With You – ด้วงกับเธอ – 2026
Currently airing Opposites Attract college BL, I’m at 3 out of 12 episodes.
A young man falls in love at first sight with a gorgeous, cold classmate. He gets permission to court him, and does so with enthusiasm.
This is pretty much BL in its purist form, with two adorable young men being adorable and no silly plot getting in the way.

It’s all about the Puppy courting the Tsundere
In the twisted world of the show above, our Puppy would probably kidnap his Tsundere love interest. But this is Pure BL Land, and he got permission, so he’s courting him with a puppy level of zeal and enthusiasm.
And doing things that in my reality would be horrifying, like covering the school in heart stickers of himself, expressing his love.
His Tsundere, as tsunderes do, reacts to his efforts with varying degrees of rejection and coldness. Refusing to take his gifts. Making him take down the stickers. Not allowing him to sit at the table with him.
But, and here’s the key, he never tells him to stop courting him. Our Puppy recognizes this and sees every cold reaction as an encouragement to keep coming up with outlandish ways to court him.
That’s it so far. It’s entirely about this adorable young man who can’t stop smiling, winning over the heart of his handsome young man who never smiles.
Because this is a BL, we can enjoy it knowing that by episode 12, our Puppy will get everything he’s worked so hard for.

And all I want to do right now is watch the next episode
This is definitely for the cute-fluff crowd who is willing to put up with a lot of cringe. It’s from the same production company that brought us Your Sky, and so far, it’s about the same level of non-angst.
I’m just here to watch one sweet young man melt the cold exterior of another young man and get rewarded. And I need to stop writing so I can do that.
