When we last left our Tired Nour and Eager Investigator, they were kissing AGAIN.
But James sees Ken’s colors and suddenly leaves
Driving away, he remembers the guy who killed his Dad, and Ken licking his blood. In his car, Ken remembers how upset James was about his transfer, and hits his steering wheel.
Later, James cries and packs up his side of the office. Ken comes in, asks what’s going on, and tells James to take responsibility. That’s so old-fashioned. I love it.
He tries to kiss James, but James shoves him away. Why is Ken doing this now, and how is James supposed to trust him?
Tangme and Phong try to convince James to stay. He wants to know what they’d do if they didn’t trust the person they love. They suggest he find out the truth and talk to the person.
So, James needs Ken’s address.
Over a corpse, Ji notices Ken’s mood and thinks he’s doing this to protect James, but Ken says he needs to get to the Nour before James and die.
Ji hopes Ken keeps living instead, but Ken feels he’s been alive long enough.
Chita is already meeting the family
That’s a lot, even if Ji introduces him as a friend. Ji’s Mom has a limp too. She’s weirdly happy Chita is a friend, not a lover, since friends last longer. Awkward.
At dinner, Chita struggles to eat one bite and immediately needs to throw up. He claims he’s allergic.
Out in the garden, Ji explains that his Mom is anxious about him dating because of his last relationship. She wanted to leave. He couldn’t. She left anyway, and he slit his wrist.
Ji compares his scarred wrist with Chita’s. I think Chita’s is from whenever his leg got hurt? Not sure. Chita promises he won’t let anything happen to Ji, and Ji promises the same for Chita.
Awww, kissssssssssssssssssssssssing.
But Nin sees it.
James breaks into Ken’s place
There’s not a lot to see. It’s empty, with sheets thrown over most of the furniture. Until he goes to the basement and finds Ken’s murder board and the blood in the fridge.
Ken gets home and immediately knows someone is there. He goes downstairs, and James puts a gun to his head. His hand shakes as he asks Ken why he’s been lying.
Ken denies it, and James SHOOTS HIM! But it grazes Ken’s cheek and immediately heals. James switches to punching, demanding to know if Ken’s the Nour behind the murders.
After taking a few punches, Ken catches James’ fist. James asks why Ken tricked him into loving him. That gets James a punch that sends him to the floor.
Ken denies killing anyone, including James’ father. He’s also hunting the Nour that’s killing everyone. He doesn’t trust anyone. He starts to CRY and apologize. This is the only way he knows to show love. OH MY HEART.
Ken holds out a hand to help James up, but James pulls him down and KISSSSSSING. When James starts to let go, Ken pulls him back and kisses him! Ken cries and kisses and apologizes, but James understands everything now.
So, sex time!
Did James’ eyes flash blue for an instant before he saw Ken in James vision?
Post-sex, Ken apologizes for getting James transferred. He was trying to protect him. James gets Ken to admit he loves him. My Heart.
Even if Ken is Nour and won’t die, James will stay with him as long as he can. Ken sidesteps a direct reply, upset that James shot at him and asking how he knew.
Turns out, when James finally saw Ken’s colors, they matched Tee and his father’s killer. And for Ken, being left in the car hurt more than the bullet. James promises not to leave him, and they agree to trust each other.
Looking at the murder board, James sees that Ken thinks Prae is the Nour who kills Nour and is killing everyone. They need to capture her. James vows to help Ken close the case.
On their way to Chita’s, Ji asks if he’s dated anyone. A long time ago, but they broke up because he lied to Chita. Ji looks guilty. Chita doesn’t let Ji in, but wants him to go home and rest. Still, we get the SWEETEST hug goodbye ever.
Unfortunately, Prae is watching.
Flashback to Ken making a friend by feeding on him but not killing him
Later, he’d hang out at his bar, which is where Ken lives in the present.
In the flashback, the man tells Ken he’s sick and dying soon, so he wants to dance! He urges Ken to live life for him when he’s gone, and let himself be happy.
But the man lives many more decades before dying. Right before death, he wishes to see Ken living a happy life. He wonders what’s the point of living so long if you’ve never truly lived.
After he’s gone, Ken cries and wonders why he didn’t drink with him more often.
Present day, Ken stares at James in adoration and learns to cook disgusting, ancient noodles for him. James eats them because he’s also In Love.
Importantly, we learn Ken can’t eat anything, because he throws it right back up.
It’s Tank Top day at work
And Ken is ready to pull the red tape up when some guy shows up. Phakin is there to take over from James, antagonize him, and get Tee’s phone. After he leaves, James puts the tape back down.
Chita worries about Prae. His worries increase when Ji gets a call from Phakin about Prae, and Chita overhears. After Ji hangs up, Chita is so worried he suggests they move away, despite Ji’s recent admission about his past.
Ji wants Chita to trust him that they’ll be okay, and tries to kiss him near a corpse.
Ken trains James to fight Nour, and feeds him newer noodles with eggs. It’s. So. Cute.
James is disappointed he’s not the first to learn Ken is Nour. Ji learned when Ken saved him and his mom from another Nour, which is also when Ji’s Mom’s leg was injured.
James gets pouty, Ken smiles, I love them both
James finds the record player and puts Ken’s friend’s record on. Sweet, dorky James gets Ken to dance, which is what Ken’s friend wanted for him. MY HEART IT HURTS.
As they dance, Ken sees people around them, and his friend raises a glass, encouraging him to live a happy life. James gets his attention back, and Ken cries. James hugs him, thinking Ken has been through a lot, and wanting to teach him to live life as an ordinary person.
YES I WANT THAT FOR BOTH OF YOU.
Suddenly, we’re with Nin and Rain. Nin is worried about his brother and Chita, and maybe confused that gay people exist? Anyway, he doesn’t want his brother dating again.
The question of whether friends can kiss leads Nin to kiss Rain, but when Rain kisses him back, Nin pushes him away.
Rain confesses he sees Nin as a friend, but Nin doesn’t know his own feelings and is scared. He just wants them to be together forever.
Ji manages to get inside Chita’s home
AND sits on Chita’s bed, pulling Chita into his lap. Chita talks about moving again, but Ji reminds can’t leave his Mom. Chita’s moved around a lot and never truly settled down. Ji thinks things are different now, and wants Chita to stay with him, by his side.
Kisssssssssssing! And…. More!
Phakin is back! He unlocked Tee’s phone so they can track Prae. Phakin stupidly wants to take her down alone, even knowing she’s Nour.
For that, he immediately gets his chest slashed. James ALSO wants to go after her alone, but that’s stupid, and Ken chases after her. She tells him that she’d never kill Tee.
They fight until James catches up and cuts her arm off! But she gets away.
After his two scenes, Phakin has had enough of this show. He wants to leave and let James stay in his place. Once he’s gone, Ken is upset with James for putting himself in danger again.
James apologizes and promises not to get hurt again. Awww, hugs.
Ji leaves Chita’s place and waves at him. But standing right behind Ji is Prae!
So, Chita is a Nour, and James has something Nour going on
Is there more to Ji’s ex too? Only because that explanation felt too simple for this show. Could she be the Nour who hurt his Mom? And Ji feels guilty about lying to Chita, but Nour?
It seems like Nour can’t recognize each other, and I like that. Sometimes fantasy world-building can be too neat, with too many clearly understood rules. This feels messy and confusing, like real life.
It sounds like Ken has always been Nour, but last episode he mentioned people becoming Nour to Prae. So, both can happen? And his bite kept his friend alive? Maybe?
I love that none of these guys do casual. Episode 6, and both couples are fully committed.
Well, except maybe Ken. Despite becoming SO SOFT for James, I can’t stand it. These kinds of shows with their high drama and life-or-death stakes can get me SO invested in a couple’s happiness. If all this ends with Ken dying, I’ll be heartbroken.
But this is a BL, which usually promises a happy ending.
I would like to see Ken kill the Nour-killing-Nour and lose his chance at death to save James. But I have no idea where James’s powers, Chita’s Nour-ness, Prae’s interest in Ji, or Ken’s healing bites are going.
