Revenge is always fun. Wasn’t The Count of Monte Cristo one of the more bearable options to read in High School?
But unlike the classic count setting up his enemies for death, our lead here is getting revenge by… Being an actor?
I don’t get how that works, but it reminds me of Reset, a show I quite enjoyed. Especially because, like Reset, our actor-wannabe attracts the attention of a mysterious, powerful man.
But Reset had time travel, and this show just has a lot of time-skipping in the first two episodes.
Also, Reset’s leads were pretty immediately sympathetic, likeable, good guys. And based on the first two episodes, these leads are not.
Our main lead, Sun, was once a violent debt collector. And not in a Jack and Joker “I’m being forced to do this, and won’t really do it” way. He treats it like a job, threatening people and taking things from them. The money he earns from this goes to his kid brother and sick mother, so he’s not irredeemable, but he’s not a good guy either.
I barely know our second lead. I only know he’s named Jay because the internet exists. But based on how he treats Sun when he first meets him, he’s not the greatest guy either.
But morally grey characters are not a problem for me. I’m looking forward to seeing these two bad guys join forces to take down some worse guys. Somehow in the entertainment industry. And maybe become better guys. And better actors. Or not. That’s fine too.
