Weirdo 101, Good Boy? – WDIW November 7th, 2026

Welcome to my Saturday blog post, where I give thoughts on dramas I’m watching, whether at the beginning, middle, or end. Whatever I want, because I’m petty that way.

This week, I started recapping supernatural GL Khom Khlang with episodes 1-2. A stressed-out cop and a mysterious, cool spiritual Master, what more could you want?

I also recapped episodes 7-8 of The Last Oath. Find you a kidnapper who rubs your back when you throw up the way A Lie rubs Lin Zai’s. That’s all I’m saying.

In this week’s Mid-Week Update on my Patreon, I wrote about shows I just started: Not Yours, Lovers & Gangsters, Tamed and The Chemistry. Join my Patreon to get that Mid-Week drama report, as well as advance notes and rough drafts of the shows I’m recapping.

What Did I Watch This Week? Time to go back to high school, literally with the first show:

Good Boy – จิรภัทรจะเป็นเด็กดี – 2026

Currently airing Thai High School Timey-Wimey BL, I’ve watched 4 of 10 episodes.

A man full of regrets about his life dies and finds himself back in High School. Romance with the school president ensues.

Here’s a link to the trailer.

Ji wakes up and he's still back in High School

This show is doing a great job balancing timey-wimey and high school

Even if that balance is 90% High School BL, 10% timey-wimey, I’m still impressed. Because our titular Good Boy always feels like an adult trying to redo his life and do better this time. This is extra impressive from a 20-year-old actor playing a 30-year-old in a High Schooler’s body.

Let me back up.

So our Good Boy reaches his 30s and feels like he’s got nothing to show for it. Then he dies. Returning to his High School years, he decides Not To Do That Again. Instead, he wants to make friends, participate in both class and his life, and, well, be a Good Boy.

This in itself is unique, because MOST timey-wimey heroes show up in the past with a grudge. Someone killed them, and they want to change things and get revenge.

Not our Good Boy. He doesn’t know who killed him, and it doesn’t matter to him (yet anyway). His focus is only on doing a better job this time around.

But while this sends him into cute High School BL territory, with school trips and class projects, he never forgets that this is his second chance.

Don’t worry, as of episode 4, some interesting timey-wimey things are starting to happen

And also the romance is adorable

There’s this serious, overworked, quiet High School President who will one day be a very successful adult. And he seems interested in our Good Boy.

But there’s more going on with him. Stuff that gets into spoiler territory I’d rather let others discover on their own.

I really enjoyed our actors, Luke and Mick, in their previous show Boys in Love. Here they’ve somewhat swapped personalities. While Mick was the stressed, overthinking one in Boys in Love, he’s the chill one here. And Luke has gone from laid-back and carefree to stressed and maybe too serious.

I might like them with these personalities even more than their Boys in Love characters.

Ji and Ruth sit on the beach together, enjoying a moment

So if you can bear another High School romance, definitely give this one a try

For me, I think the timey-wimey aspect is giving the fluffy-sweet High School stuff the harder edge I sometimes miss in Thai High School BL. I’m excited to see where it goes in the second half.

Speaking of sweet, fluffy High School! I also finished:

Weirdo 101 – แรงโน้มถ่วงระหว่างเรา – 2026

Recently aired Thai High School BL with 10 episodes.

A depressed high school senior unexpectedly finds himself in the orbit of an astronomy-obsessed junior who wants to hit on him.

Here’s a link to the trailer.

My feelings about the series as a whole aren’t so different from the ones I shared in my initial review. This is one of those “good thing or bad thing depending on what it is you want” situations.

Everyone in Weirdo 101 dressed up as planets

The production remained clunky, and the characters very young feeling

I’ve talked in other reviews about how Thai High School BL skews young to me. And Weirdo 101 skewed REALLY young to me.

It’s not about the kissing, but it probably didn’t help that I was watching shows about teenagers obsessed with sex at the same time. Nor did it help that I’ve seen Sea and Keen both play college students.

But when the seventeen- and eighteen-year-olds were looking for aliens and/or ghosts in the science building with homemade ray guns or whatever, it lost me a little. Not helped by the school projects where they were planets or something.

Maybe I’m just too inhibited. But for me it felt very childish. Even if part of me wishes that high schoolers could genuinely enjoy such harmless, uninhibited activities without getting mistreated by their peers.

The production issues I already went over enough in my initial review, so I won’t belabor that point here. It just stayed kind of clunky.

Cheewa and Niran sharing a cute look together

But I loved our character’s sweetness and sincerity

Even though I’m complaining that it was TOO young and sweet, I wouldn’t want our Astronomy Nerd to be any more sophisticated.

I loved that our hero was a sweet nerd. And I love how much his sweet senior was amused and charmed by his Astronomy Nerd’s unembarrassed commitment to his likes and dislikes. For our depressed senior, it was exactly what he needed. He needed an Emotional Support Nerd.

And I didn’t think the depression aspect was dealt with in a childish way. Not that therapy was involved, we can’t have everything. But it wasn’t a problem that magically got solved in one episode either.

It took a lot of sweet love and support from his Astronomy Nerd for our Senior to start to feel better.

That said, the show did suffer from the usual need to make EVERYTHING okay by the end. Even with characters who didn’t really deserve it.

I’m not sure if I’ve found a SeaKeen show I’m in love with yet

I really like them and the characters they play, including in this show. But so far, the plots are where they lose me. While I like the characters here more, I’m not sure I didn’t like the overall plot of Head 2 Head more.

But maybe I’m just forgetting what I didn’t like about Head 2 Head.

Anyway, while I feel a little medium about this show, I’m going to prescribe it to anyone having a hard time. If you need sweetness and light in your life, this show is a low-stress, feel-good watch.
