When last we left our Prosecutor and his new Investigator, DNA evidence pointed towards Tak.
But they still don’t know if they have a murder to solve
The dead body in question died of a drug overdose, not murder, and was moved. It’s the second part that’s suspicious.
Chaeha wonders why Tak would help Jahyeon, and Taeseon grumbles about love being ignorant and irrational. Then he tells Chaeha to put his seat belt on BECAUSE HE LOVES HIM.
They need a sample of Tak’s DNA to be sure it matches the glove. To get it, Chaeha clumsily steals a used paper cup in front of Tak and a horrified Taeseon.
Later, Chaeha suggests Taeseon stop the investigation because Tak is like a father to him. He doesn’t want Taeseon doing this just for him. Taeseon denies this and won’t stop investigating.
Next, Chaeha has his date with Song. They go to an empty arcade and a movie. Afterward, Chaeha skips dinner with Song and finds Taeseon outside his place.
Taeseon Is Not Happy with Chaeha
Because he went out with Song and turned his phone off. After Taeseon huffs off, Chaeha realizes he sent dozens of worried texts.
Chaeha runs in the rain to Taeseon’s place to declare he wouldn’t have gone with Song if he knew Taeseon was waiting for him. Be Still My Heart.
Taeseon very dramatically warns him away, but Chaeha very dramatically enters his place. So. Sex time! In the shower.
After the shower, Chaeha blow-dries Taeseon’s hair. Sex has not made him less fussy, but Chaeha puts up with it. Then they share sleeping pills before bed. Romantic!
Chaeha still worries about Taeseon and Tak. Taeseon thinks, and I agree, that this has to do with Chaeha and his own father.
The next day, Chaeha and Taeseon go over the case
Something I didn’t know: Jahyeon’s husband also died. From a heart attack. Within a few days of that other murder-by-awl, where the victim was Jahyeon’s OB-GYN. So… maybe a murder?
Also, the older men who confessed to those murders were miners, whose families likely worked at the casino. So, the 3 cases are related to Jahyeon. Or 4 cases, including Woosung.
The show gets creative, showing our guys at the murder scene while they discuss things at Taeseon’s. Taeseon explains that Woosung’s son heard someone come and go twice, using the passcode. The only people who had the passcode were family or Gilyoung.
They wonder if the real murder weapon was switched out, like with the OB-GYN’s murder. Gilyoung’s blood was found on the weapon, but it could have been planted, like in their recent murder case.
Chaeha wants to talk to Woosung’s son, but Taeseon gives that a No. He thinks Chaeha has two things to solve: The DNA and the passcode.
Right then, Chaeha learns Tak’s DNA does not match the DNA on the glove. But the DNA on the glove is Tak’s son’s.
But Tak doesn’t have a biological son. Or does he? Maybe Jahyeon didn’t abort the child, despite her father’s threats. And later her husband found out. So he and the OB-GYN who delivered the baby were murdered to protect Jahyeon’s inheritance.
Time to talk to Jahyeon
Who is obnoxious and denies everything to do with Kim.
During a break, Song gets Chaeha a drink. Chaeha nearly blurts out their suspicions about the murders to Song, but catches himself. Then, when Song teases him about having an office romance, Chaeha loudly denies it.
And here’s Taeseon! After Song leaves, Taeseon is jealous of the drink. Then he wants to know when he’ll get to go on a date with Chaeha, since Song already did.
Chaeha stays focused on the case and notices that Jahyeon is vaping. From that, he realizes the nicotine in Kim’s blood, which was too high a concentration to be from smoking, could have been injected. But I don’t think you can do that with a vape?
Taeseon is impressed and pets Chaeha
Taeseon questions Jahyeon again, and reveals that Kim died from a drug overdose. He accuses her of injecting Kim with nicotine, thinking she’d killed him and dumping the body. And having her son help her.
Jahyeon keeps denying everything. Taeseon shows her a picture of her and Tak in high school together. He says that since she didn’t do anything, they just need to arrest her son.
Finally, Jahyeon stops denying things, shoving Taeseon against the wall and threatening him.
Later, they’re working late when Taeseon decides to manhandle Chaeha. He wants to have sex at Chaeha’s dorm, so Chaeha has to be quiet. But Chaeha, as Taeseon demonstrates, is noisy.
On their way out, Jahyeon stops them to taunt them with a secret: Taeseon is Woosung’s son.
Taeseon tries to stop Chaeha from listening, but it’s too late. Chaeha walks away from him.
These episodes did a good job summarizing the investigation
Since there’s so much going on in so little time, This Is Important.
Though I’m confused about why/how Jahyeon injected Kim with nicotine. I guess she did it because he kept some of the drugs? And she got mad? Or did she bring a syringe of nicotine?
Also, considering the different ways the murders happened, I suspect Tak did some of them. Probably the ones with the awl. And also, what about his dead sister?
Though it wasn’t summarized so neatly, Taeseon and Chaeha’s relationship is also progressing nicely. Taeseon acts like this cold, harsh arbitrator of facts and justice. But. He’s such a sensitive baby. And he wants to go on a date.
Poor Chaeha. For someone used to just enduring things and asking for nothing, taking that step into Taeseon’s place was a big deal. He was, while sober, going after something he wanted for himself.
And after being brave, that horrible woman, not Taeseon, is the one to tell him the truth. It’s even worse because he’d been so worried about Taeseon’s relationship with Tak.
Seeing them reconcile is going to be So Delicious. Taeseon better beg. Maybe cry a little
Oh. And I want to see them get truth and justice too. Yeah.
