Truly, we live in amazing times with wonderful, toxic, plot-laden BLs.
Having recently finished Payback, I’m delighted to immediately (re-)start a show about people with trauma finding love in a hopeless place.
Here we’ve got sweet, wee little Chaeha up against big, intense Prosecutor Taeseon. Up against in the way we want to see in a BL.
Chaeha is haunted by memories of his father pleading his innocence but being convicted of murder. He’s learned to survive and keep moving forward despite it.
Taeseon, with his intense looks and restrained anger, is more of a mystery. But this wouldn’t be much of a show if there weren’t something driving him besides a need for justice.
The mystery will be digging up both of their pasts and forcing them to deal with it in charged, emotional ways that also get them to kiss.
Admittedly, I have watched the first 6 episodes and skimmed the web novel online. I already have answers to some mysteries, but I’ll be playing along like I don’t.
As an unsurprising warning, I don’t know anything about the Korean justice system. I know that, as depicted *in Korean dramas*, the police there are always the worst. Even if they are the protagonists, they will accidentally let a suspect get away 10 times out of 10.
But we’re dealing with prosecutors and investigators here, so maybe they’re more competent? We’ll see.
