Welcome to my Saturday blog post, where I give thoughts on dramas I’m watching, whether at the beginning, middle, or end. Whatever I want, because I’m petty that way.
This week, I finished up Cinderella Closet with episodes 11-12. We got our happily-ever-after, complete with a glass slipper.
I also started recapping a new show, with episodes 1-2 of Love upon a Time. I am very jealous of our main character for getting to take a time-travel literature class in college.
What did I watch this week? Pure sweetness and light. Mostly:

Duang With You – ด้วงกับเธอ – 2026
Recently aired Opposites Attract college BL with 12 episodes.
A young man falls in love at first sight with a gorgeous, cold classmate. He gets permission to court him, and does so with enthusiasm.
This sweet, fluffy show that wasn’t perfect (they never are) but got what it needed to get right, right.

It’s all about the characters
As I mentioned in my initial review, we’ve got BL in its purest form here. Our leads are a Golden Retriever and a Black Cat (not literally, though the Golden Retriever barks from time to time). The Golden Retriever is pursuing the Black Cat. This is not original, for BL or the larger romance genre.
Besides just seeing them interact together, the fun with these kinds of over-the-top characters is seeing them pushed to act contrary to their basic nature. There’s a delicious anticipation in waiting for these scenes to come up. What will get our Golden Retriever to cry? What will make our Black Cat smile? Will we be moved to have a feeling with them?
Thankfully, this is all well done, both in acting and writing.
Our actors played their extreme personalities as extreme as they could without losing all touch with reality and real feeling. And, these over-the-top characters stayed true to themselves no matter how silly or serious the situation became.
And it was fun to see them in both types of situations. However, as fun as the light, silly scenes of our Golden Retriever pursuing our Black Cat were, my favorite ones were the more dramatic ones later in the show. The serious ones with the crying and the hugging.

As with most fluffy shows, the conflict is a mixed bag
Because something needs to happen, even I don’t want 12 episodes of Pure Fluff.
It avoids the biggest problem I had with sibling show Your Sky, where characters with criminal behavior were treated as learning experiences.
On the other hand, it also has our main characters overcome Big Problems with One Big Scene. It would be nice if it worked that way in real life, and these shows are fantasies, but it wasn’t entirely satisfying to me.
Even the smaller conflicts would suddenly pop up and get resolved soon after, as though our characters were playing whack-a-mole with their problems.
On the positive side, these conflicts were all tied to our characters. Mainly, our Black Cat, who had the more complicated backstory and personality. So even if the conflicts were clunky, I appreciated the insight into him, and watching him grow as he overcame these problems.

There was also a second couple, kinda
I really liked the actors together, but their storyline was weak.
First, it relied on an instant sexual attraction that was talked about but never shown.
Second, it relied on them speaking English together as though at least one of them was fluent. Their English is better than my Thai, but it’s still nothing close to native, and the clunky conversations took me out.
Third, it was unrelated to anything going on with the other characters, so their scenes just kind of floated around in the ether of the story.
Still, I’d be happy to see them again, with more screen time and a stronger set-up.

Honestly, I don’t have a ton to say about this show
This is one of those shows where I don’t see any reason NOT to watch it unless you don’t like fluff or will scream if you find yourself fictionally on one more college campus.
It’s very, very easy to want to see our eager, willing-to-put-in-the-work Golden Retriever give our tightly wound, deeply self-protective Black Cat the love he needs.
While I never want to have a bad week, at least I know that when I have one, this show will be ready and waiting to lighten my mood and restore my faith in humanity.
