Enemies with Benefits, Wu – WDIW May 23rd, 2026

Welcome to my Saturday blog post, where I give thoughts on dramas I’m watching, whether at the beginning, middle, or end. Whatever I want, because I’m petty that way.

This week, I recapped episodes 7-8 of Pursuit of Jade. If you like your heroes in a constant state of injury, this is the show for you.

I also recapped episodes 7-8 of Love upon a Time. Poor Nakun, does he really have to leave all these shirtless men and return to the present day?

There are too many dramas out right now. So what did I watch? As much as I could, but all I have to show for it are these two initial reviews:

Enemies with Benefits – ลัลล์ไม่ชอบไวน์ – 2026

Currently airing enemies(or not)-to-lovers Thai GL, I’m at 3 of 10 episodes.

The new Head of Sales finds herself navigating a friends-with-benefits relationship with the prickly but adorable Head of Accounting.

Here’s a link to the trailer.

I guess I HAVE to have office GL in my life right now, but this show is very different from the soapy, dramatics of The Water

Here, we’ve got two very cute leads with a very cute-complicated relationship that has enough going on beneath the light-hearted surface to keep it interesting.

For one thing, it’s not really enemies-to-lovers

While in the beginning, our Sales Head finds the Accounting Head as maddening as everyone else does, it doesn’t last. By the time they end up in bed together, our Sales Head definitely has a thing for her closed-off co-worker.

This is a bit of a black-cat-golden-retriever set-up, and our Sales Head is the golden retriever. Yes, the Accounting Head’s obsession with the rules and the Sales Head’s overly lax subordinates lead to them butting heads, but these shallow conflicts are over when they’re over.

From pretty early on, our golden retriever is obviously more interested than annoyed by her black cat companion. And while she’s an uncomplicated, social animal, she’s also thoughtful and willing to examine her own behavior. After they first slept together, I think she would have been happy to start a real relationship.

Our black cat is too complicated to let things be that easy. She’s the kind of person who sticks to the rules because she thinks avoiding mistakes means avoiding being hurt. But this has left her cut off from others and generally disliked.

Thankfully, for both our golden retriever and us, she’s also willing to examine her own behavior. Realizing how she’s become cut off, this friends-with-benefits relationship becomes her attempt to free herself from her self-made prison of rule-conformity.

But it’s still a relationship, and it’s still complicated

Neither of these ladies have been in a friends-with-benefits situationship, so how does it work? How much should they hang out? How do they ask for sex? How should they behave at work? What personal questions can they ask of each other?

At this point in the story, it’s our black cat that is the emotional minefield where her over-eager golden retriever companion easily steps in the wrong place. What’s satisfying is watching both of them trying to work through these things together, creating a tentative, growing relationship.

This is a standard light-hearted office romance

Our characters work at an office that sells things. I’ll admit to not being riveted by scenes of conflict over bills being properly submitted and invoices going out on time. But they are brief, existing only to force our characters to confront some new angle on their relationship.

A lot of humor is in our characters hiding their relationship, and their coworkers remaining convinced that the leads hate each other.

There are hints at characters’ deeper goals and dissatisfaction with certain job requirements that could go somewhere. I’m not here for intense workplace drama, but I wouldn’t mind it doing a little more with the setting than My Stubborn.

I’m engaged enough to want to see our leads navigate their tricky relationship and inspire each other to grow without it ever getting too heavy. So far, it’s a good, not-too-serious watch.

I also started watching:

Wu – อู – 2026

Currently airing fate-demon-fantasy Thai bromance, I’m at 3 of 9 episodes.

A young man who unknowingly has a bit of a demon inside him meets another young man who can alter fate. Bromance ensues.

Here’s a link to the trailer.

Our leads from High School Frenemy have returned for some fantasy-action-adventure paired with intense, platonic (?) looks. With Khemjira and Goddess Bless You From Death long over, I’m just happy to return to the realm of Thai fantasy.

We’re kinda somewhere in between those two shows

We’re in the city, and it’s dark and gritty, but there are no murders to investigate (yet), just dark forces swirling around.

Our demon-infested lead is living an aimless life where he gambles away what little money he makes doing deliveries. One day, he meets this other mysterious young man, who immediately recognizes our demon-infested guy is demon-infested.

And, he can use his help dealing with certain mystical, magical problems.

Plot-wise, and I’m sorry-not-sorry to throw so many drama names at you, we’re in Peaceful Property and Oh No! Here Comes Trouble territory. We’ve started with some smaller cases to get our demon-infested guy, and us, used to this fantasy world.

Now, as we move into the middle section, a larger story is becoming clearer, and a team is building to handle it. Not only that, more of the story behind the demon infesting the demon-infested guy has been revealed. I won’t spoil it, but I’ll say that I really like it.

And we’re getting to know our main guys. They’re both outsiders dealing with complicated pasts while trying to float through the present without getting too involved with anyone. Meeting each other is a turning point, but they’re still getting to know each other.

Well, I’m hooked

A lot of the world-building is going over my head. There are a lot of rules about fate and demons and magic that I can’t track.

But I’m happy to be plunged into this strange, modern fantasy landscape. I like the dark tone, I like learning the rules of the fantasy setting, and I like the more serious, intense production. It’s fun to see the regulars of GMMTV BL get to show up and do something a little different.

Though the characters and set-up are very different from High School Frenemy, Sky and Nani have the same chemistry that makes me want to see them come to each other’s rescue, even though I know no kissing will be involved.

At this point, there isn’t anything I don’t like about the show. I’ll be watching the new episodes as soon as I can after they’ve been released.
